Another fine example of astronomy stuck in the days of astrology.
And another thing star wars got right.

Would you prefer to be known by what you're like inside, or the neighborhood you live in? That's the change.

I like the idea of living in a binary planet system.

Odd how this let's loose a few days after "once a century cosmic ray event".
Coincidence? I think not.

1) Gas cannot support a load.
2) Gravity is acting radially, in hydrostatic equilibrium, pressing equally from all directions towards the Sun's center-point.
3) If it had a crust, centrifugal force could try an sling it apart, mostly along its equator, where angular velocity is greatest. And we'd see a bulge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As to 'moons', hasn't it simply been a convention to refer to any celestial body trapped within a gravitationally-bound orbit around a more massive body, as a 'moon'?

FACTS OF JUPITER A. Jupiter has the shortest day of all the planets: It turns on its axis once every 9 hours and 55 minutes. The rapid rotation flattens the planet slightly, giving it an oblate shape. B.

The new gating factor is internally active.

1) Thanks, I took the liberty of limiting the comment within the context of stars.
2) The Jovian planets would not experience the magnitude of gravitational forces as are present with the Sun.
3) Apples and Oranges.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) 'internally active'?
B) NASA attributes some seismic activity to tidal forces between Earth and Moon.
C) Meteorite impacts on the surface.
D) Diurnal thermal stress.
E) And yet unknown forces between the crust and mantle, still being investigated.
F) There are no surviving lava lakes or volcanoes there.

Watched a show on PBS where they demonstrated that NYC & everywhere else grows and shrinks about 3" in daily conjunction with the tides, more during a king tide. Why the tower in Frisco is sinking on one side.

No, apparently the only easy to measure things were tall buildings. Can't see that in say Show-low or Yosemite.

Without a link, I have no idea why buildings ....plural.

The height of structures in the United States has been poorly documented. However, the data is a matter of public record, appearing in documents maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC).. The KDLT tower, a 609.2 meters (1,999 ft) high guy-wired aerial mast in Rowena, South Dakota, was completed in 1998 and appears to be the tallest.
