I drive a 2001 ford crown victoria police interceptor for yellowcab. Just got 24 mpg driving to the airport and back (110 miles). No mods, just synthetic oil and 40 psi in tires. 60 mph max in rush hour traffic. Followed a semi truck from safe distance for 30 miles on way back from airport. Quite proud of the old beast on this one!

I tried out a new rout to work that bypassed the freeway at the expense of traffic lights. No new record today at 30 mpg. The cool morning air seems to have decreased my mpg quite a bit as I was able to do around 35 on the same rout at 95 degrees.. Could be the cool air in the intake. I may do better with a heat shield to suck in warmer air. I will keep tweaking the rout and see if I can exceed 30 average both ways. Previously i have been doing about 29 using the freeway.

Have you used the odometer to compare route distance? If the new route is shorter, maybe you will save gas despite the lower mpg.

Ah, good point. I checked on google and the rout distance is identical. If I can hit 30 mpg on the way home by going around the freeway I would be excited because I have never gotten better than 28 on the way home. It must be up hill slightly. I struggle to keep over 25 mpg at 65 on the freeway going home and spend the rest of the rout trying to make up for it. At 45 to 50 I can mintain over 35 mpg. What a diference 15 mph makes.
Once I finish off a few mods, hopefully I won't be under such a load at freeway speeds. Till then, I may be better off going the slow rout on the way home. Will give it a try anyway.

Filled today. Expecting around 9 gallon fill, BUT, usual pump has a brand new end with totally differant design so fill was 1/2 gallon more than expected. Going to start the visible line fill next go 'round.
That said, I got to 18th on the POE list( told ya so freakazoid ), same as if I would have got the lower fill. WOOHOO!!

I did it! 31 MPG on the way home from work which beats my old record of 29! The new rout to bypass the freeway paid off this direction... at least it did today but I suspect it would every day. I'm quite sure now that my house is higher elevation than work. Going the other way it seems a wash for on vs. off freeway. The good news, I can now hit over 30 going both ways rather than 1 way.
Hit 200 miles on this tank and still a bit left halfway mark. It will be a new record by a long shot.

Six tanks in a row, I have surpassed the record distance that I had set 2 years ago (579 miles), and the most recent two tanks were the first ones over 600 miles. My 90 day average is higher than it ever has been. :-)

Good going !
I usually can't wait so long to run a record-promising tank nearly dry.

An accident had the bridge all but shut down last night, and this morning all the electronic signs on the highway were reminding people not to text and drive. I wonder- what happened yesterday? So hypermiling last night was rolling forward two car lengths at a time.
It's still looking to be a good tank- I'm back up to 31.2 on the car's display and I could be looking at another 500 mile tank... in another 350 miles.
