Just entered a fuel log for my tank......22.96mpg
What made me want to share???......It is exactly the same mpg as my last fuel log entry, even though different miles driven and different gallons used. I just thought it was odd.

I was one mis-timed light away from a 60 MPG average trip TO work, the one going uphill. The light didn't cost me much in MPG or time, but unfortunately the traffic going the other way included someone who doesn't know how to handle cones restricting lanes, so they just kept stopping for no reason.

I just got a new personal best on the Acura: 42.27mpg! Probably a couple factors contributed, including a can of BG44k to clean out the injectors and valves. Much better bottom end the entire tank because I lost my low end misfire I'd been dealing with for the last 2000 miles. Also, I had a class up in Estes Park, which meant a good mountain highway drive. Big Thompson Canyon was absolutely perfect. Tame enough to average 24-27mpg on the drive up the canyon, yet enough of a descent that I probably only needed to restart my car about six times on the descent for just a few seconds or a minute at a time to maintain 30-50mph (I pulled over several times to let traffic by, but I was also coming down canyon at night on this tank, which meant very light traffic).
I'm not likely to beat this tank without some serious work on empty roads. I'm quite pleased considering that this time last year I thought 30mpg was a good tank. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary at ecomodder and I've managed to bring my overall average over 38 and my 90 day is up to 39.5. The next couple tanks could see a 90 day over 40, which would make me quite happy.

Nice work !
The year before joining ecomodder, I was getting 5.49 L/100km (42.8 mpg) - which wasn't too bad to start with - and using 1428 L of diesel for 26.001 km.
The year after joining ecomodder, 4.84 L.100km (48.6 mpg), using only 1275 L for 26.352 km
If it wasn't for the bloody particulate filter, the numbers would be a fair bit better.

It's a happy day. My bad tanks from the trip to NYC with the tornadoes rolled off my 90 day average and it finally shows something close to what I'm getting. It also jumped me from 118 to 74 on POE.

Had a 130 mile trip on the freeway yesterday out and back. That was the first major distance of solid highway/freeway driving. I averaged 33.5 for the round trip! Quite pleased with that.

Just reviewing my fuel log tonight because tomorrow (or Thursday morning depending on how brave I am) I'm going to finish my second best tank ever. I started hypermiling in April. My life has controlled for a lot of driving variables- I've got a long commute that hasn't changed since I bought this car almost 170k ago. I know how to work the car, the road and the traffic. I've been driving for mileage instead of time for over 8700 miles, and I haven't managed to fully adjust the nut behind the wheel.
After 20 tanks, only one real tank has been below lifetime average (Tornadoes and Manhattan can be excluded for this discussion). It was my third tank, the first one that I faced rain with. That's pretty pathetic, when you think about it. I'm on a road I'm intimately familiar with in a car I'm intimately familiar with. I own both of them. Almost 9000 miles into this and I've still got room for improvement in a very controlled environment! WTF, over?
I stumbled across some Suabru wiring diagrams a while ago and I'm going to talk to one of the guys at work about it. That's going to help because it's getting to be headlight weather at my latitude during rush hour and my lights are controlled by the key. Thank you very much, Nanny State, now I really do need that kill switch.
Sorry, I just thought I'd have hit the "no hardware modifications" driver skill plateau by now. I'm happy to see the numbers increasing but am disappointed in myself that I have not learned how to most effectively drive my car yet. Most people don't even own their cars for this many miles and I'm apparently still trying to figure mine out, for Bob's sake!

56 mpg on way to work, was only in the high 50's F.
Usualy if the temps at 75 F or better I would have gotten 58 - 60 mpg so the cold air is hurting a little.
Will try to get a WAI set up before fall really gets here.

I have had a few setbacks with weather and a tire developing a valve stem Working hard to get over 57 mpg over a tank. I am thinking of deleting the drive to the power steering.
