2001 Insight manual trans Syracuse, NY

Who wants my 2001 Honda Insight? 230,000 miles. IMA battery and controllers replaced by Honda at 95,000 mi;es and still going strong. Idles rough but starts fine and runs (injectors? compression?) Lacks power on highway and catalyst efficiency codes (clogged cat?). Trans synchros worn. Left rear e brake hangs up sometimes. Oil leak. Coolant leak but never over heated. Body is still very good. Sell the parts and have a good donor for an EV conversion.

I'm at $1500 firm. I can get $700 just for the battery.

'97 Civic DX 5-speed: 39 mpg hwy for $1400

I haven't found a C.R.A.P. Prius yet for winter duty 2015/16, so cars like this one are starting to catch my eye...

Getting back on topic, it's one that actually meets all the rules!

I was ready to pull the trigger on this one.

It turned out to have a "rebuilt" status on the title, which requires a structural inspection in order to license it in Ontario when bringing it in from out of province.

Not worth the hassle for a $1200 beater.

Too good to be true?

Here is a late model Toyota Prius that is for sale in my neck of the woods. Pictures were not on the craigslist ad, I got them from the seller by text. Looks like a beauty for the price? I'm concerned about the main battery, how much will this cost to get a new or refurbished one in the vehicle??

In the parts section on that cl is someone parting a gen1, asking $500 for the battery (which is unknown condition really).
New they are $1,800 from the dealer. Dorman sells 'reman' ones about $1000 I think.

This one appears to have some mods I'd wanna chack out carefully... to my knowledge no DX came with a moon roof. And I'm pretty sure the EPA Ffuel economy numbers the add quotes are for the HX. The DX is more like 27 city, 30 combined, and 34 highway, using the post 2008 EPA ratings.

When you search the fueleconomy.gov site from the home page you see the various FE estimates: Fuel Economy of 1997 Honda Civic

That diesel Escort is a rare bird indeed. According to fueleconomy.gov it's good for 39 on the highway. That sounds like a good place to start from.
