Any update on the P4? The last blog was October. I get email about the helmet law stuff. I was disappointed to see the website says 90% North American made and not US made. Any crystal ball predictions on production date?

If the last blog post you've seen was October, you've missed a lot.
Blog | Elio Motors
My prediction is late 2016. It all hangs on funding at this point. I figure they are picking up about 250 customers a week. Assuming $500/ea, that's $125k/week. Of course, some of that needs to be escrowed.

I see 890 posts since 201301. I prediction that posts will pick up as whatever date approachs and exceed 2000 before the first vehicle ships.

You're making a big assumption here.

The two things we have been promised are a P5 unit, that is supposed to have more rear seat headroom, and more ground clearance, and probably other revisions.
The second thing we have been told is that we will see the prototype engine; by about the end of this month - if I recall correctly.

Hang on what is that over there, is that a horse ?
Hmmm. Could be.
Hang on, what is that thing on the end of it's nose ?
The pointy, shiny horn shaped thing ?
Could it be ?
Oh I think it is !
Quick, gather the dung - if we blend it with rocking horse dung and ground up hens teeth we should be able to make anything - including our own engine (based on a very old design by some guys in Japan in the 1980s...).
Jeebus!
Everyone get down under cover - the flying pigs are here.
Arrrrgh - Save yourselves.
Flee.............

So—you say we're beating a dead unicorn?
I say 'we' for sake of argument. Personally, all I want is the front suspension from an Edison2.

IF $125k / week ... than ... 'only' ~2,000 more weeks to get to the ~$250 Million they already said they need .. If they can convince all those customers to 'hold on' for ... 'just' ~38 more years, that pace might work... of course by then .. With inflation

Those 4-pot high-revving engines from a sports motorcycle wouldn't be so suitable to a road-legal car, but since the single-cylinder used in the XT660 is more targetted to low-end torque it seems suitable for an Elio-sized vehicle. Also, many Japanese microcars are fitted with 660cc engines.
