LOL! Ed Zachary!!! I was going to say something about the American penchant for bringing a bazooka to a knife fight, but Jon said it better!

Then I showed her a Civic crash test and it was like night and day. If I wasnt concerned with gas mileage Id get a Civic because theyre safer! I couldnt find a crash rating of a 94 f150 though.

Steven, the crash test data was for the first model after yours that did not have the twin I beam front suspension and straight frame rails like your 94.
The 94 is a tank compared to that later model. It may actually be too tough and not collapse and absorb as much energy.

As they say in the field, armor makes you stupid. The tank, once the hole is patched, can be fielded again with another crew. The soup sandwich of its previous crew needs to be pressure washed out of the hull before the new crew sallies forth, but the tank's own robustness is not to be questioned. Ever! That would undermine the confidence of its next crew. Just like y'all's F-150.
Back in 04 I was down in Kuwait one day and saw an Abrams on two flatbeds. In descending order, count! Two flatbeds! One tank! Zero crewmen! There's your mom's pickup, Steven Wrigley. Stop listening to your mother and buy yourself a car. Her ignorance is dangerous.

Now, what I had in mind is a T-Bird Turbo 4 cylinder, high torque cam, and then run that heifer on E85. 30 psi boost for those Superman moments, Pinto economy when you don't.
What?! Stop laughing!

I dont think Ford new what crumple zones were when they designed the F150. Atleast it has one airbag. My defense to the car is safer argument is theres a ton of weight in the bed and drive train behind the cab. Thats gotta go some where during a crash! What only 30 psi boost?

I met a guy a year or so ago driving an old 80-something 1/2-ton pickup with a Chevy Bowtie on the front, a GMC stamped in the tailgate and a Cummins placard on the side. Turns out, he blew the original engine and had an old 4-cylinder Cummins diesel out of an old tractor he's put in there. I think he said he had over 100k miles on the diesel engine. The tailgate was just a replacement from a junkyard. Gotta love it.

That Cummins B3.9 swap into a Ford or Chevy pickup is as easy as getting the mounts and brackets from Mill Supply. This was standard fare in the breadvans. Either had a C6, Turbo 400 or Clark trans behind it.
Too bad they're kinda spendy right now. You could actually get a 5.9 Cummins cheaper on the open market. But if you find an old Frito Lay truck or similiar for 1500.00 to 3000.00, just get the motor, trans and mounts out ( if it's a Ford chassis ), switch it over and turn the pump up a little ( they're usually set at 80 - 120 hp ). You'll have a truck that'll get in the 30-40 mpg range or so.

Yup! There was a local guy that had a Jeep Wrangler with a 5 cylinder Mercedes Diesel in it, even though it was set up for heavy offroading (giant lift, 35" tires, etc) he got high 20's with it. Drove it to work everyday. When I get out of the city finally, I was thinking an old F150 with a 4BT in it would be perfect. The people who do that swap are reporting 30 mpg with 4WD and mean tires. My little wagon can only hold so much, and that's with 4x8 trailer I got going with it.

And a 100k is just a good break in mileage. Those bad boys will literally go forever if you don't go stupid with the modifications, and replace the harmonic balancer when you're supposed to. They are very vibey ( no balance shafts ).
The Perkins 4-236 is another one. Just an English B3.9. Good engines, came in the Ford and GM commercial chassis too.
