None of those are my cup of tea actually. If I ever make a front-engined (sort of) Beetle, most likely it would be a sleeper. Well, maybe the Karmann-Ghia is better suited for a cleaner look, as it already has those small grilles.

Trucks from the '90s have been still a common sight near construction sites.

Not generally a fan of ruining Beetles, but they did a nice job.
The rotisserie is super helpful.

Well, maybe because the Bug was still so widespread in Brazil while I grew up, and my parents had one when I was born, would I be more inclined to not believe the Bug sucks at all?

I think the panache of the bug was maintenance/cost oriented. Cheap base vehicle with Diy at home so cost per mile was much less otherwise it was just a post war econo box.
cRiPpLe_rOoStEr: depends on how socially sensitive you are to outside pressure. I was unbiased either way until I was given one, and even then it took a couple years of ownership to sway my opinion. I know people who parents were all hippy dippy as George Carlin would say that do not like bugs at all

There was a time when there were Hot VW, VW Trends and VW Greats on the magazine stands at the same time. Racers, customs and fiberglass body swaps.
I think it was that they respond well to modification.
