It completely overshadowed my sketch:
Maybe if it had a track conversion people would like it better.

Prior to Roosters post, I had never seen an Amarok that wasn't a 4 door cab. But different countries have different toys marketed to them. I would imagine that a full sized VW pickup would be a hard sell in the US since Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota pretty much dominate the US full sized truck market. This theory is likely why they don't sell them here.
I was watching Rally Racing yesterday. They had replayed a past race from Europe. Though I'm not sure which country it was being held in as I missed the beginning of the show. But they had a few Amarok's racing against an assortment of large SUV's. I'm so used to seeing the small eco-cars rally racing that it was a surprise and nice change seeing the larger going at it. Cool Stuff!

How about some old school buggy pics.
A bunch of new bodies stacked up to ship out.
"Um, I think we lost something...."

The double-cab ones outnumber the regular-cab here too. BTW it's not a full-size, it's a mid-size like the Dodge Dakota.

The mid sized term always gets me. Most mid sized parked next to regular full sizes, they really are not that differently sized physically. The only noteworthy difference here in the states is the mid sized are limited to V6's where as the full sized can get V8's. Those Amarok's are good looking trucks though.
A couple more retro buggy pic's

The rear tyres on that buggy look quite different to the ones used here, which look more like an aircraft tyre.

Which one? The first one has a tread more suited for mud, rocks, etc. While the second one has a paddle tire which is better than a treadless tire in sand.

This unique California design was chosen by the producers of Baywatch to be Hobie’s cool television ride. Kit Car Illustrated featured the RIOT on its February 97 cover and wrote a very accurate article about its creation. This kit builds as fast as any kit car and uses a stock length VW pan or a custom tube frame for mid-engine applications.

That is an odd looking kit car Beard. I see numerous other cars as influences in that one.
Here's the last of the old buggy pic's that I have. I got these from a guy who is restoring a rare and valuable toy VW buggy.
It wasn't this exact buggy. But it was the same model as this one....
