This Sunday I saw a white 2-door Santana with collector plates, and it was for sale. I forgot to take pics, but it looked good.

Took this picture in late 2011, at the parking spot of the Koxixos snackbar in Florianópolis.

Wouldn't a carpenter drive a Squareback?
Last Saturday I got a wheelbarrow, a beach cruiser bicycle and a post hole digger in my Dasher.
Today, a table saw that was loaded into a pickup truck with a forlift to go up-river. I broke it into three pieces and put in in the back.

Love the light blue Squareback!
So I've been doing something completely different, but yet oddly still on topic. I've been building a type 2. While yes, its a toy remote controlled truck. But its still a pretty cool little bus. I painted the clear body on the inside Plum Crazy Purple, with white two tone, and a silver stripe. But the purple turned out more dark blue.... Either way its a good looking little hippy bus! -lol
I'm not yet done with it, as I've got some decals, and some minor painting left to do. But I had to give it a first drive in the grass today.

Why not Chesnut Brown over Sealing Wax Red?

I know the guy.

The last time I held down a job, he'd stop by in that Squareback, on his regular route, and sell me a dozen eggs. He's been on thesamba since 2006 and I see he posted today.

Station-wagons are always more practical.

The rear hatch makes it nearly as practical as a station-wagon.

I searched that color scheme and it seems to be pretty popular based on the number of real buses found. But honestly that color scheme isn't my style. I wanted something different, which is why I went purple on the bottom. But since its not the Plum Crazy that I was hoping for, I'm just leaving it this way. (with the finishing touches that I previously mentioned, not yet completed)
On a sad note, the car lot that has the VW's that I tried to buy (numerous times) was on the News today. It burned down in a 5 alarm fire. At least 3 beetles, and 1 or 2 type 3's were in the fire today. He wouldn't come down enough for me to buy them. I wouldn't go up since the cheap ones had rust issues. His loss ultimately since now they are wasted. Its too early to know how he made out since its not been long enough since the fire. But I would conservatively guess that he lost a million dollars worth of oldies in that blaze.

I agree. I wanted an mk4 jetta wagon tdi but people want way 2 much for them. I ended up with a cheap mk4 beetle tdi. I love the alh engine. The mk4 beetle not as much. Bad areo and way to much cheap plastic.
