Just A Car Guy: Arnold Odermatt was a police photographer for 40 years, and took two sets of photographs at the scenes of car accidents: one standard shot for the police, and when the injured or killed were cleared from the scene, he would shoot anot

This guy's work has a lot of VWs.

And many of those cars had curious tendencies to do strange handling things at inopportune times.

Curious tendencies. Heh.

The forensic chalk marks are interesting, it veered left then right, left windshield glass on the road and then dug in the wheels.

I was looking at this car, built by the justly famous George Poteet in 2010, on the cover of an old Street Rodder:

...and I got to thinking about a Beetle pickup version with the 19" yellow Dayton wires, spun aluminum disc brake covers, dark green paint with pinstriping, and the louvered visor. The E&J headlights are (were?) available as reproductions. An old tractor radiator with a chrome vinyl wrap onto a modded fiberglass 40 Ford hood and you'f pretty much be there.

Basically that livery on this body from Permalink #36:

This Gol still has the Renault-designed, Ford-made engine. It's becoming hard to spot one with these small hubcaps.

Notice the single exhaust pipe behind the left rear fender, which is a feature of the Fusca Itamar. The mirrors fitted to this one, the very same fitted to the square-body Gol and its derivatives (including the U.S.-spec Fox) are mismatching in this Fusca.
