The brackets for the motor are basically in place. They seem to be pretty strong as they are but I might need a bit more bracing. I will find out soon enough I guess. I will drill a hole to mount the motor plate on one side and a slot in the plate on the other to allow a bit of adjustment.
Next up is to take the axle apart and cut a keyway slot into it. Then reassemble the cv joints and put it all back together. I also need to make a limiting strap for the suspension since it has about 6 inches of downward movement and the chain would have to be pretty loose to deal with it. If I limit it to 2 inches down then I will have no problems with a chain hopefully.

I can echo what Ben says: the controller doesn't get too hot. (One of the "advantages" of a low power, relatively short range EV is you don't make enough power for long enough!)
But hot enough that I added a heat sink to it. As for location, the Curtis is fully potted, so mounting it somewhere that it can get splashed shouldn't be a problem (assuming you insulate the connections after you hook it up).
Too bad about the plasma cutter.

You going to bring this to Geopalooza, Rick? I'm not sure if I'm going yet, but I'd realy like to see it.

If I do make it, I'm debating whether to drag the ForkenSwift or come in the Flea...

Get a trailer and tow the Forkenswift with the Flea!
I will be hauling my Metro with my van. It would probably drive there fine but it is not really a smooth ride so I would never be able to walk again after 6 hours in it.

I will dominate you all with my 144 volts of fury!!!
I can plug in, right?
I am planning on making it. I would be pretty cool to compare gas, electric, and Hybrid Metros!

If I don't have to do non Metro work tomorrow hopefully it will at least spin the wheels under electric power. I found an even better thing to use for a throttle, an analog stick out of an old game controller. I took the spring out of it so it doesn't stay centered. I will put another spring on it to hold it forward at 0. Pulling it back will be full throttle. I just have to make a longer rod to replace the small thumb stick on it.
