Car looks good in tall grass if the grass was cut then then you could tell the bottom of the bumpers are 12 inches off the ground.

driving it around today one minor problem became totally obvious. The rear inner fenders are way to small to clear the tires. So that gave me an excuse to play with a plasma cutter again.

I could redo the garbage cans and make them fit but I need this car on the road by next weekend so I can make it to the shows. The fastest way to do it is to use stock inner fenders and just beat them out a bit bigger then stick them in. I can glue the joints up watertight later.

you never want to use any form of flame to cut springs. Spring metal is very finiky about heat. It's like tool steel or something, I can't remember its late. But what you want to do is use a cut off wheel since it will screw up the metal composition.

I originally thought he was going to flame cut the springs, but he has the better idea. Best idea is custom springs or adjustable ride height of some sort. I think flame cutting the springs is about as safe as eating a bag of Doritos while standing in the middle of the freeway rush hour traffic....

I have been working on the car but haven't had much time lately and the stuff I have done is just little detail junk

Here is my drivers side rear view mirror.

It is just primered and needs a bit of finish sanding and spot putty to smooth it out but I put it on the car so everyone could see how it looks. I will work on the passenger side next and paint them both at the same time I guess.

I finally found a good set of side skirts and they will be here tuesday. So tues I will start building the belly pan and a little bit of framing that needs done like the seat brackets. But mainly right now I am just doing detail stuff and trying to piece together all the best parts I have so the car looks nice for the car show on the 4th.

The end of the line for the hatchback body.....

Took three people to pick it up and set it on the trailer. Mainly just because it was big enough to be hard to manage for two. We turned it up on its side before loading it to get the rear suspension off it and the rear was almost rusted in two. I knew the front end was pretty bad but i had no idea the back end was worse. The floor was totally separated from the sides and only held in place by the firewall and half of the rear was still attached.

The only part left on the body was the rear view mirror there wasn't a single bolt left in it other than that I think.

Not going to remove the windshield? Couldn't you sell that used, or use it somehow? Or does it have a crack in it prohibiting that? or is that the only piece hoding the metro together?

Had other stuff that needed doing the last couple of days so not much time for the car. I did manage to get it about 3ft in the air though

Takes nothing to pick the car up since any frame member can support the entire car. I could hook to the back bumper and lift the whole back end the same as I did the front. I could also hook to the side bars inside the doors to lift the side of the car up. If it was possible to get to the bar in the dashboard I bet it is probably near the center of gravity and I could lift the entire car at once

Also I have some side skirts to play with now and I just picked up four 4x8 sheets of coroplast for the belly pan. So it looks like the last of the big work for the car should be done this week. One thing I was thinking though is how does everyone make or mark out jacking points on their underbelly so they can jack the car up in the future. I really don't want to have to drag the engine hoist out every time I need to take a tire off
