Happy belated...
https://hotrodhigh.wordpress.com/tag/pontiac-solstice/
Happy belated winter solstice! (Happy summer solstice for you southerners.)
And happy "Great Conjunction"?
Did anybody else keep an eye on the Jupiter + Saturn show? I had been watching them creep closer ever since the summer. But it was cloudy here on the big day (21st - solstice day, coincidentally). So I had to be content with a brief glimpse the next evening.
Also, happy Perihelion day (2nd).
Any other noteworthy celestial goings-ons?
I'm still surprised I only realized last year that the moon does the opposite to the sun - ie. it's highest arc through the sky is in the winter. So last week's full moon was the highest/brightest (?) of the year.

All I noticed was that the rain was a little heavier than usual.

I got a lousy photo on the 18th. But I can see Saturn's rings! 600mm lens, very cropped.

Clouds blocked a lot of last week's full moon for me. But I got the November 29th full moon rising over Lake Ontario.

I keep telling the wife we "need" a 600mm lens. She then asked how often I use the 250mm one, and it was probably a few years ago during the solar eclipse.
We're getting longer days now though, huh. Was just thinking I am looking forward to spring and we still haven't had snow yet (nor do we usually get it). Been a mild winter so far, but we've still got 2 more months of it.

Nice shots. Where is that shoreline?

Fantastic. And I see a couple of Jupiters moon/pixels, I think .
I saw Saturns rings for the first time this summer through a crappy telescope.
Another conjunction this weekend: Mercury/Jupiter/Saturn at dusk tomorrow - but close tonight & Sunday too. We may even have clear skies in our neck of the woods for a change. It's been pretty grey.

I can't figure out exactly where that shoreline is. I was at 43.305294,-76.837689, if that helps!

I snapped this one with my cellphone. Seemed to come out alright. It was approximately an hour after sunset.

Nice!! Was that just today?
Sadly, we did not get the weather that was forecast. The last clear sky around here was Friday evening, and I could only spot Jupiter. I think the other 2 were already too low and into the hills/trees at my closest viewing spot.
