I see people driving smaller cars as fast and dangerous as they used to drive trucks/SUVs.

I see just as many fancy cars driving recklessly as before. But I see 18 wheelers slowing down now. And I see a lot of what I call "gas beaters" (absolutely beat up and falling apart Metros, old Hondas, etc.) Different color body panels, missing parts, frames that appear to be bent, basically they look like they were pulled from the junkyard after theyve been rotting awhile.

From friends, more people on highway are driving slower.

Personally I can't talk as on the first part of my commute I'm nearly alone, then on the second part I'm forced to drive so slooowly...
In fact my best hypermilling tips is to change the route : I found a 14kms road to replace a crowdy 10kms road. Result : 1 hour per day and certainly hundred of Euros per year :-)

I know people having changed their schedule.

Denis.

Ya know, I thought they were slowing down but they're not. I get pushed every day....I'm going to put flashing lights in my rear window and a tractor safety triangle...LOL Seriously I probably will. Around Philadelphia, Harrisburg,Scranton,Lehigh valley PA 70 mph with a posted speed of 55 is the norm. A posted 65 pushes'em to 75 Jersey and New York FOUGETABOUTIT.....every man for them self...

I don't drive enough to be able to say, but my sister said there were more cars driving slower in the right lane on the highway last time she came for a visit - including herself!

Bigs: she came down the 416 from Ottawa.

88CRX -

Today someone in a beater (1990's Intrepid?) seemed to be following me in order to drive slower. I don't seem to get as much aggression aimed at me. I'm in the far right lane, so they don't have an excuse to be angry.

I use the AM news-channels for traffic updates, so I am *constantly* hearing gas price woes in story after story. LA Metro ridership just hit a record. None of the routes work for me, so it's not a viable option.

More people driving slower not so much during rush hours but the rest of the day and night they have definitely slowed down.
Sitting on my porch the pickups use to fly by, they are in high gear just barely chugging along. When no one is following people are really slowing. On The freeway the contractors in pickups have a problem yet, they think that they have the right to burn all the gas they can, just because they are in a company truck, but the company's are getting smart and putting telltales and governors on their trucks. There is no excuse for it, they act like their time is worth more than the rest of us. From reading the posts it sounds like the bigger cities need someone to jerk a knot in their tail, until they learn some prudence.
