EVeryone on my commute has reduced speed except for the people in chrysler 300s on 22 inch wheels, driving 85mpg with windows down. Drug dealers dont care about the price of gas.

Forget editing. See how my typo's reflect what's on my mind?

I agree with the above post that people are buying brand new little cars, but pass me at very high rates of speed. I doubt the 2 door yaris gets better mpg's than my aspire at WOT.

much less congestion in the streets in the san fernando valley...people dont circle the block 2 or 3 times to find parking. In fact i think they have stopped coming by car and or they have found a new hobby other than cruising the streets. The freeways are lighter and there are quite a few 55mph'ers.Ive noticed people drafting off me and a lot of trucks and trucks seem to be maxing out at about 62mph.

Well today as I was coming back from getting a cortisone shot ( herniated disk )
I was on a 4 lane with a 35 mph limit. I'm in the left lane com ing up to a green light , there is a van waiting to turn in my lane (heavy oncoming traffic). I slow down coming up to him, about 50 feet away from him a white grand cherokee flies past me. I moved over behind the cherokee, as soon as I did he SLAMS on the brakes, doesn't turn..nothing. I'm utterly confused at this point , I get beside him and shrug like "What the hell?" He just shurgs back and then acts like he wants to race. Keep in mind people, I'm in the friggin Caravan....and this guy is easily over 40 years old. He floored it..getting up to at least 90 in a 35. Ipull up behind him at the next red and he freaks out like I'm gonna shoot him or something....tried to run up on the curb to turn. So I'm still completely confused.... and with that...Ladies and Gentlemen... NO , I have not noticed a difference in the way people drive..there are more new econoboxes going around but they are always hauling ass.

I've stopped using highways and stuck to the backroads so I can't speak on the congestion, but I've noticed an increase in bike riders in and out of the city. I just wish those same people would follow the rules of common sense and.... oh, I don't know.... USE LIGHTS AT NIGHT!!!!!

It's a good thing I drive so much slower now on those roads or through the city... no lights, no reflectors, dark clothing... yeesh!

Some Change

I have been seeing more bikes, motercycles and people walking in town. On the Interstate I would say about 20% of the traffic is at the limit or 5 under and it used to be only one here or there with the rest 10 or 15 over.

One strange thing I have noticed is an increase of the extra crazy drivers bombing 20 over the limit until they hit the tail end of traffic in the fast lane and then they haul over into the slow lane like thier life depended on it. After eating up the gap of a few car lengths between my fellow turtles they have to slam on thier brakes and they have a pissed/supprised look on thier faces as they try to fight back into the fast lane watching all the cars that were behind them blast by.

I heard on the radio the other day that there has been a Moped boom in the last few years, so your observation makes a lot of sense.

Both my daughter and I noticed that more people seem to coast up to red lights and drive closer to the speed limits (major city streets). I think I even heard another car starting up when a light turned green.

In town I haven't seen much change.
On the freeways in Phoenix and Tucson during rush hour I haven't seen much change.
On the freeways away from town, especially during off-hours, people have slowed WAY down in general. Used to be if I went 70 in a 75 I was the slowest thing on the road, by far. Now I'll pass groups of 4-6 cars that are doing maybe 60 mph on the freeway. A year and a half ago I never saw that.

There are still people out there driving 95 mph all the time, but in general I think people have slowed down a lot. Now, during rush hour and around town it still seems to be a race, but the people that put on the big miles on the freeway are trying to save some money.

On weekends and off peak times, Ive been slowed by slow drivers 3 times in the last week.. lol..

Commuting you see some but most are the coffie hopped up "Im going to be late for work" folks.. and usually in SUV's.. its like they wont learn... they don't even think, why am I passing everyone on the road?

I did get passed by a prius the other day.. my guess is he was getting 38 mpg..lol
