How do you get EPA combined?
I have only found city and highway mpg, there doesn't seem to be an EPA combined rating for my car. I just took the average, is that the right way to enter the value?

If you go to the EPA site, Find a Car, and click your car, you'll see more detailed info about it. When I get to the screen that shows the different variants of my car, it only shows city and highway, but once I click my trim level, it shows the combined as well.
I don't know how they compute the combined MPG, but it's not just the average, at least not for my car.

Combined is 45% city / 55% highway, if I recall.

An unfortunate ratio for my Civic...26/34 becomes 29 instead of 30! But yeah, the find-a-car is the way to go (I even have it bookmarked, what a nerd I must be...).

Also when you get in to the details about your car you can change the settings to suit your driving habits (city to highway ratio, Miles driven yearly, etc...). It's located in the top left corner of the details under " Use Your Gas Prices & Annual Miles"
I set mine to mostly city because I only get out of town a few times a year.

Thanks for the tip, FastPlastic. I just adjusted my ratio to better reflect my driving patterns. Changed my combined rating from 21 to 19.

The EPA website says "Based on 45% highway, 55% city driving". I checked one of their ratings, for a 2002 Subaru Legacy AWD, and it matches that: with their stated city/highway estimates, 45% highway gives their stated combined of 21mpg, while 55% highway gives 22mpg.
Maybe they changed it for the "new" ratings.

Eh? What 45% highway and 55% city means is:
Combined = .45*Highway + .55*City

I know, what I meant was 45% highway and 55% city gives their stated combined mileage of 21mpg, while 55% highway and 45% city gives 22 mpg. I just didn't feel like typing all that out.
