I've got an Idea; build an MPG guino run the car around for a few tanks (get it calibrated).

Then do a simple experiment.

At constant speed / load switch on/ off the HHO generator (cockpit mounted switch). If less / more fuel is in fact required then the dutcy cycle of the injectors will change and be detected by the Guino.

Repeat several times to get a consistent reading

Sounds good?

Any body is more than welcom to modify my proposed test method.

Jedi Sol,

Congratulations. You have graduated to the next level and can now be expected to carry a portable anemometer with you (as I do) and determine your wind vector periodically for use in your mpg reports.

Of course, this has nothing to do with hydrogen. To determine the effect of hydrogen on your mpg, feed hydrogen from a gas cylinder into your intake through a flow meter. (For best results, start and stop the flow at cruising rpm.) Make note of the lowest flow rate where you are certain there is an improvement.

Now put the flow meter on the output line of your onboard electrolyzer. What is the flow rate?

Not to add fuel on fire but HHO doesn't increase the energy of the mix to the point of counterbalancing the energy taken from the alternator to perform hydrolysis. That would violate thermodynamics.

Instead hydrogen flame front is faster than gasoline. This allows more gasoline to break up and burn faster instead of not being used and destroyed in the catalytic converter.

There is a very interesting article in here (Car Bibles : The Fuel and Engine Bible) by someone that is an unbiased expert. It also contains links to experimental research on the matter.

Sorry if the topic was considered closed.

That article is very confusing

On page 2 the one in the link he appears to say HHO works good, but is expensive. (The "Run your car on water" brigade - HHO)

But when you go to page 3 to continue reading about his opinions, he appears to slam HHo and says it BS. ("Hydrogen Generators")

Am I wrong about page two and three or is this guy Bipolar?

Glen

Not dead, just on hiatus. I had to replace my o2 sensor during my recent car inspection. Ever since then, my mpg combined has jumped from 27 to 33mpg. When I started this experiment a few months ago, i didn't have an actual baseline mpg to compare (i was just going off rough estimates). So after a couple months of driving, i've got a new mpg baseline (33-34mpg combined), thus i've recently reinstalled my HHO generator in my car and restarted the experiment.

Will let you guys know if it works or not.
