The car’s wind resistance was measured as .0061 lb/mph˛.

At 65 mph it takes 26 lbs to push the car. 26*65*5280/3600/550= 4.5 hp!

4.3 hp * .33 lb/hphr = 1.5 lb/hr / 6 lb/gal = .25 gal/hr 65/.25= 264 mpg!! ( not taking rolling resistance and transmission losses into account.)

I know we've talked about it.
In the movie,Tucker, the Man and the Machine,Alex Tremulis warns Preston about the danger of the turning fenders, and how Frank Lockhart was killed in the Stutz when they acted like rudders,Lockhart losing control.

Definitely scary as hell having a steered fairing on the front wheel of a faired recumbent bike. The pivot axis must be a the center of pressure and mass to prevent flutter instability. They said in the news real that the rear tire blew out at 220 mph, it was damaged on earlier runs. The car rolled, flipped over and through him out, an awful video, discretion advised.

From a link on the Edison2 car, looks like the designer responsible for the current VLC v4 also has a trailer concept :

That would be Jason Hill; who also did design work on the Aptera.

I assume a low CdA, based on low frontal area for 2-people. I suppose most tandems are better though.

The real full-on fail of course is to go abroad and understand nothing about the locals ... ;-)
