umm need to work out that fair under the bumper ..
i need it on to on the big brown ford

where is that 14 inch edging stuff i have seen referred to.. where is the old conveyer stuff.?

i have been thinking about finding some aluminum of . the proper gauge ,
bending and snipping and bolting it up under my bumper

i think a straight vertical with the contour of the bumper would be right ..

go as lo as you have guts for..

if you go rock crawling or run in deep snow all bets are off..

thats why i been looking for that rubber garden edging ..

then again a good gauge aluminum got bent back one could just beat it back in place .. more or less

I had a car that would buck and misfire and ping at light throttle cruise in overdrive for many years. Never set a CEL in the first 50k / 4 years I had that car. Then one day, I got an EGR code.

Replaced the bad part and the pinging, bucking and misfiring went away.

What I learned was that a malfunctioning EGR system can cause problems and still be 'in spec'

How about adding a bump on top of the roof to increase the attached airflow?
It would add a little bit of frontal area, but with the body being so long, I think that you could really stand to benefit, in the end increasing the CdA. This is is where I got this idea:
TheSamba.com :: View topic - What a drag
And what I get away with it is the arching camper top in the picture increases the frontal area by 17% yet only uses .05% more fuel at 60mpg, and the shape is anything but ideal.

This would be the shape that you want:

The 92 Model Suburban was a transitional year with the transmissions. To bad it doesn't have an earlier 700R4. Has the electronically controlled 4L60E or the 4L80E. Not sure if in these trucks if the engine gets info from the trans via the computer. Also, have you checked your fuel pressure or changed the filter? Perhaps swap out the TBI from another? Checked for vacuum leaks with a spray bottle or carb cleaner. Such as around the manifold or gaskets.

Miller, I replaced the Egr and vac lines 3 months ago. Runs alot better now.

Cyclist, that probably won't happen as I am looking for low hanging fruit first. Great concept. Btw Suburban has a lower Cd than the shorter Tahoe.

Vacatiotime,i am not sure which trans is in my truck. I dont think it tells the computer what is going on, when I first got the truck it the shift point was really high, my mechanic adjusted it to shift nice and low, (od at42mph). It has a rebuilt Tbi, new manifold/gaskets, and I cannot find anymore vac leaks. I need to check fuel pressure, and replace the fuel filter, though I dont think that is it.
It has a hard miss, like ignition, then it sounds like its flooding. I am looking into testing the dizzy.

I noticed when walking to my truck today that alot of the newer Suv's and hstchbacks have a short 3-4" wing at the top of the glass area. Also parked next to a newer gen Tahoe and coulden't believe how close the rear was to mine.

I broke 16 mpg thats 30%+ over epa rating.
I broke my bad habit of bliping the throttle at startup. Doing about 70\30 split of highway/city driving.

I bet your truck would do well with wheel skirts on, 4-5 mpg is my estimate as it has such large wheel wells.

4-5 mpg would be an aditional 25-30% improvement? I dont know if that would happen, not saying I wouldn't take it.
It would be easy to go down to the black trim on the body but below that the body curves under on the rear.on the front I might just fill the gap, thinking about the brushes you see on some semis.

I have considered removable wheel skirts.
I would not expect 4 or 5 mpg improvement, maybe 1mpg.
