Back to driving Turtle (now known as Dr. Horrible) for a week while my son is in Europe. Going to discharge and grid charge it while he's gone.
Forgot how to turn on the rear view camera, even though I was the one who installed it. A simple press of the rear defroster button and all was good, lol! Even with the big dumbo OEM mirrors Turtle has as good if not better aero than Ron Burgundy due to the full belly pan.
It was strange driving another Insight, even if it was my old one, and I immediately miss my cushy leather seats!

I just used what I had handy. Someday I'll go back and downsize my AWG wire.

How do you know what side is hot? the wire that goes into the cabin is a ground to the relay to ground the relay out, so it will cut the power to the injectors.

The power I used to the relay was the same power coming from the injectors.

Frankly, seats are probably at the top of my vanity purchase list.

When you're as big as I am the seats make a lot of difference!

Going to discharge and and then grid charge the IMA battery on Turtle this weekend, and fix the faulty brake button on the shift knob and buff out and seal the headlights while my kid is overseas.

Pretty jealous of the full belly pan, it has held up really well. And the Michelins still look as good as they did when I owned it.

How quickly we become spoiled.

Yup! I'm so used to driving Ron Burgundy now that I forget just how much everything in it is upgraded! I missed the leather seats and the sunroof immediately!

Did a deep discharge and a grid charge on Turtle (Dr. Horrible) this weekend.

All went well, and so far so good, battery seems to be holding strong. Voltage topped out at 168 this time, whereas it had gone all the way to like 174 back in the day. Not sure what that means! Hopefully the process will have a positive effect, if so I will we doing the same thing on Ron Burgundy next weekend.

I've been told by various people that a stronger battery has less voltage variation, so I'd infer that 168 is a better number than 174, all else being equal. It also depends on temperature though; in warmer weather, the voltage will be lower.

I did another grid charge a few weeks ago, and the results were astounding. The battery is actually stronger than it has ever been. Maybe it's because I've never done one quite as long? 48 hours of trickle from a low-ish state of charge, then I let it sit for about 6 hours before driving it, and now I can give moderate to high assist for 10-15 minutes straight (at least! because I haven't actually run it completely down since then).

Yes ambient temp can make a big difference on voltage. On my old pack that I had to charge once a month, if I didn't keep the inside of the car above 90F while charging, I couldn't get the pack to charge enough as the voltage would lock at 180v and throw a code. If I kept it 90F, it would top put at 177v and I wouldn't throw a code.

Did the discharge all afternoon into the evening on Saturday, and the car was in the driveway in 90 degree weather during the day, and a chilly 85 degrees in the evening.
Grid charged it from Saturday evening til Sunday evening in my back yard in the shade. Hopefully it balances the battery for a while.
