thanks for all the comments & ideas guys!

I'm thinking about doing a trap door with reusable body panel clips for an access window to do the oil changes...but i need to get some more coroplast first

the engine heat should funnel right out of the center, maybe i should leave it open...?

i used self tapping screws to install it, but i predrilled the holes in the metal body first...made it go faster, up front, its just screwed into the factory tray that goes from the air dam to the radiator, the rest was in the frame like rails, or channels in chassis, so no screws popping into the carpet, or other important stuff

mileage is down, but not of this, cuz my parents used the car to run around in for like the first 1/2 tank of gas, then i just beat it the rest of the week, this new tank, i should really see numbers as i plan to return back to hypermiling/driving

Wow that looks really great. I need to find a sign shop around here and get some coroplast NOW. I need to figure out how to manage this engine heat first though. I'm having huge issues right now with the front air dam I built causing my fan to come on constantly and that's without any sort of partial or full belly pan on the car, only a lower grill block, top one is open. I might try removing the center section of my middle block to see if that helps any. I think the belly pan might actually help, because I get the feeling the cold air coming in is actually just leaking out the bottom the way it is now, the tray might help keep cool air in.

But looks great, can't wait to see new versions.

Cool, looks great! Id like to see the results.

Not sure about the engine heat, but I would have at least the same open area for exit air as you do for inlet air.

Someone mentioned about oil change access which is a good idea. One other thing I would do is to locate the AC evaporator drain and make it so it can drain out the bottom.

Well, you helped me make my material decision! I found an ad on craigslist for free old 18"x24" coroplast election campaign signs, so I'm picking up 100 from the guy tomorrow. I figured about 50 will be enough for a belly pan, grille block, wheel skirts, and partial kammback, and I might want to re-configure a second revision later.
You should try to find some old campaign signs or boxes or something for your trapdoors - I'm sure you can find them.
Mine won't look near as nice as yours, but it will be cheap and crappy like my car! - only the cost of duct tape to seal them together!

I hope you have to do some driving... we're all anxious to see any coastdown/mpg gains!

Hi,

You can get 4'x8' Coroplast at a sign shop. I paid $20 for a sheet at a local sign shop.
