I've decided to introduce a +1% distance correction for the new tires. Now this distance is closer to what Google Maps say. I don't have a GPS, though that would be the best for sure.

I burnt 2 more tanks in the meantime, during an Austria trip (we attended to the Walpurgisnacht at Kapfenberg and visited the "Madoka Prison" in Leoben too):

I'll update my logs here too soon.
I have a lot of things to do (even some art: I'm translating my Madoka Magica x Fringe fanfic to English) while I'm essentially a zombie now (working in night shift this week)

Nothing is like beating his all time record with a Spring tank...

1182.5 mi @74.27mpgUS

OK this is only by 0.3mi... and consumption is under my best 74.91mpg...

But nothing is like beating his all time record with a Spring tank...

Sad, the 3 months POE (% over EPA) is under 100% but 3 months MPG is over 70mpgUS

Next targets :
  • sub 3.0L/100 (78.4mpgUS) and 2000km (1243mi) tank
  • 83.3mpgUS (2.82L/100) to reach a kilotank with a small 12gal tank
  • find a generous rich man offering me a 2000 manual insight

Who's next ?

Have fun,

Denis.

Thanks for reminding me to update my log!
Last weekend I finished another tank with Teresa (we visited a tractor festival in the northeastern part of Hungary so we went through Slovakia to get there).

There are no words to describe some of the backroads around there. We had to ride very slowly to lessen the impacts of the endless potholes which made up the 'road'. Slovakia had nice and fine, not too bad roads.
Main road 2 was half great (twisty yet very wide), half a congested agglomeration road. Next time I'll make a different route.

The result was 2.87l/100km (82mpgUS) with Teresa between low fuel lights.
shiNIN also rode there with Ciliegia, I'll get the info from her too. One thing I remember is that she beat me, even if I count my fill-to-fill average which was 2.82l/100km. She reached some 2.75... I'll have to work harder next time

(Fill-to-fill tank contains 2 very short (~5-6km) city rides to the workshop to get a new clutch cable. I had no clutch that time, so you can imagine how much it helped the average...)

And I'm trying to keep the Motorcycle team alive, together with redyaris.

I've had quite a few 80+ mpg tanks since the weather got better, nothing stellar, though (read: I'm far from 90). I won't expect to break any records in the near future, I do pretty much 2-up riding lately, which seems to have a ~10% penalty on Teresa's FE. It gives good mpgpp (mpg per person) nevertheless. And I had a 78mpg (3.01l/100km) tank which was 2-up almost all the way.

My apologies to diesel team. I filled-up twice this week, before and after a highway trip :
  • 586.9mi @ 66.08mpg = Old EPA+88%
  • 882.7mi @ 61.84mpg = Old highway EPA+65%

For the commute tank I wouldn't have reach 1700km (1056mi) while my previous tank was 1900km (1180mi).
For the highway tank I wouldn't have reach a kilo tank but I improved the 2010 trip to Rennes by 18% (52.30mpg) (*)

Next weeks up to my holidays in end of July will not help to push up my 3 months POE over 100%, but I'll try to do my best.

Have fun,

Denis.

(*) I should have done better. Since last year I improved the aero and removed weight (I removed the rear seat for the travel). But Thursday morning in Rennes I found my aero mods covered with commercial posters. As the glue wasn't dry I easily removed them without impact, but I'll have to paint some chloroplast again. Worst was Friday morning as I found the plastic back, trunk cover and miniback destroyed certainly some fubar drunk student... I had to remove these three mods before the trip back and I'll have to rebuild them from scratch, certainly not before my holidays in July/August
