I don't like the Smart so much. But it's not a bad project, regarding safety and comfort, in spite of its limited size.

2004 Prius with 300k KMs (186k miles). Running at the auction tomorrow, a guy I know has been looking for a cheap, newer body style one so I think I will try and grab this one for him. It's probably a $2500-3000ish car there I would think.

I drove it, everything seems to work, the battery display looked good on the display screen, but will the battery pack have a date stamp or anything on it? I don't even know how to access the pack on this thing lol, but if I figure that out is there anyway to tell by looking if it's been replaced? Being at the auction, there won't be any history or anything with it, I'll just have to buy it as it sits, so if I can see if the battery is newer then I will pay more for it.

First thing I looked for was holes in the roof from the sign or holes in the dash/floor from the mount for the Taxi meter lol. Taxi companys here paint them white, yellow, orange, or red, and they don't sell them usually, they run them into the ground. I also looked for decal burn in the paint from where the security company decals would have been. I think this is just a car that saw a lot of highway use. I just know how things go when you sell a car to someone you know - if I sold it to a stranger I am sure it would be fine, but if I get it for this guy then sure enough the traction battery will crap out in two weeks lol.

If I'd ever get an old Prius, I'd actually not worry too much for the batteries, I'd just want a Prius bodyshell for some experiences. Too bad I couldn't legally import an used Prius so easily back here. BTW this one fitted with weathershields at the windows would be a good test mule for some evaporative cooling experiences I want to perform

Well, usually I am pretty good at guessing what something will bring at the auction. But, I sometimes fail horribly. I opened bidding at $2000 on it, and thought I had at about $2800. No, no I didn't. It finally sold at around twice that much! Man, I need to get my 2001 Prius with 155k KMs running and put it through the auction, prices on 4 cylinder, efficient cars were through the roof today! A bare bones, 2001 Saturn SC1 coupe, no A/C, no nothing with 146k KMs (90k miles) that would have sold for $500 a month ago brought almost three times that much. Gas prices are rising here, and the rumor is that this summer will be more brutal than usual for fuel costs, so I better make hay while the sun shines!

I wonder how sucessful this little minivan, the Fiat Fiorino Qubo, could be in the American market. Some of its Diesel-powered versions are rated at the same fuel-efficiency as a Prius in the European cycle...

I haven't seen a red Swift/Metro for years, but a few weeks ago I spotted a yellow one with black top in my hometown. At least it didn't have a fart-can

What is that black plastic thing in nose/bonnet? Wind deflector? I have always been skeptical about these tings - it probably makes aero worse not better.
