Hood protector. It saves you lots of paint chips if you drive on gravel, though that thing looks like it spent it's 300k on swept streets.

Went to America yesterday afternoon (to Bellingham, WA) and saw two Leafs on the I5. That's more Leafs in one day there than I have seen at home in total.

I've seen a few Tesla Model S cars on my commute. The other day, one drove down my street, stopped at the end for a bit, then turned around and drove back out again. Those things are quiet--and quite large!!

Here are a couple from my commute. One was from a couple of weeks ago (I posted it in another thread here), and one was from this morning. Apologies for the image quality on the white car; the iPhone on "maximum zoom" while driving (so I can stay back a safe distance!) is not a great recipe for quality.

I walked over to lunch past the Electric Car charging station that's near my office. (Eight parking spaces labeled "ELECTRIC CAR ONLY", but only two chargers. Yeah...)

Anyway, there were four cars parked there, two being charged and the other two pretty obviously waiting their turn. Three were Leafs, and one was a Prius PHEV.

Ya they aren't too common around here either. I see one in traffic every once in a while by the shop, but other than that the only other one was the 2011 at the auction that I posted. I have seen a MiEV, usually in the area around the Mitsubishi dealership, so either it's a demo or someone that works there. I'll get a pic if I ever see it parked.

Ok here's a weird one. 1989 Dodge Colt Turbo. Only made them in this bodystyle for one year, and only 1500 of them. This one was sitting outside a dealership I was at today, it looks like it is red primer but that's just faded original paint. 5 speed, black interior. All the windshield wipers were missing so it's probably been sitting so long they all rotted off it. I guess it's about as close as you get to a Turbo Firefly that isn't a Suzuki clone. The factory wheels looked like scaled down mid '80s Corvette wheels. This thing would be fun to horse around with and see what kind of FE you could coax out of it. Though the 9000 RPM factory tach would be a little too inviting for me lol. Sadly, no one that I talked to there knew anything about it or what it was doing there.

Neat. The internets says it was even on Car and Driver's 10 Best list that year. Not sure what that says about its fuel economy potential!

Ya that doesn't seem too promising. Though if they only made 1500 of them, I can't see anyone making the effort to change the gear ratios in the transaxle to a "performance" set up, so it might have a decent 5th gear for FE in it, as in whatever the base model came with. Like a CRX Si with a DX trans kind of idea. Though maybe it has a 1 of 1500 transmission in it, in which case good luck getting parts lol.

Ever since MetroMPG started this thread, I figured the first car I'd see would be the smurf blue Turbo Firefly that used to always be parked at the end of my street. But ever since I've been looking, it's never there. These were a Canadian only, 1.0L, turbo Suzuki clone. I finally spotted it today, and chased after it. Ok, well it's a Firefly and I was in a Tracker, so chase probably isn't the right word. This is the worst quality picture I have ever posted, but I only had a second to snap it before I had to turn. It looks rust free, still has the correct hubcaps on it. The Turbo decals are long gone, but it has the hood scoop and body kit, so I think it pretty much has to be a Turbo car. I just dig the factory colour more than anything lol.

We should hook him (her?) up with the owner of the red one.
