Saw a Tesla Model X in white without plates yesterday for the first time. No pix. All happened too fast. The front grill looks like a grill-blocked Metro nose. ☺

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

I saw some interesting vehicles recently, such as a street-legal Volkswagen-powered sandrail buggy. Well, at least it might seem eco compared to an average SUV...

The sandrail that I mentioned before:

Isuzu D-Max

I heard some rumors about gasser versions of it being made in Brazil for export to Ecuador and Colombia, but this one with Paraguayan plates has the Isuzu 4JJ1-TC turbodiesel.

These ones don't need an introduction

That's a nice rail.

D-Maxes are the bomb. With the right motor-tranny combo, 25 km/l is actually possible.

Even the 4JJ can touch 20 km/l or more with proper hypermiling.

And EcuShop in Thailand has one doing 8's on the drag strip, on a highly modified 4JJ motor. It's the world's fastest diesel pick-up.

I always liked that rail since the first time I saw it, about 10 or 11 years ago.

Since the 4JJ1 is not so stressed at all when fitted to a D-Max, it seems eventually possible in a highway stretch. But 25km/l, might be only achievable with the 2WD low-ride ones which probably wouldn't be so suitable to Brazilian road conditions

Not sure if that would qualify as "eco", but it's a Brazilian-assembled XTerra with a locally-sourced MWM 2.8L 4-cyl turbodiesel.

Sorry, no pictures...

But I saw my first Model X driving around today. Pulled in and parked at the Nordstrom next to where I work.
