Thanks old mech for all your support and help, I really do appreciate it.
I had to put the orileys thermostat back in due to lack of funds. I'll buy an OEM one ASAP. I did test it before I put it in though, and it's fully opening at 212F like it's supposed to.
As for bleeding, it's an extremely aggravating process, and I'm not sure what to do about it. Whenever I try to bleed the system, it simply sucks water from the bleeder tube into the recovery bottle. It will continue this action until the recovery bottle is completely full. Google turned up no results.

Glad you got it fixed, Balto! Crazy outcome, but makes perfect sense once you found the issue.
Now we can do battle gaining mpgs while we learn to drive these things!
I have the advantage of being on basically the flattest land possible, but I do face a lot of traffic along with a lot of stop and starts. You have the disadvantage of going up the hills, but you should get infinity mpgs and a good IMA charge coming back down them.
Good luck!

You better watch out :P. Right now with cheap off brand non LRR oversized tires, worn brakes and rotors, missing belly pan under engine bay, and EGR unplugged my average commute to work is 57MPG.
I do need to know why it's pushing coolant into the recovery bottle though. This isn't something I can just ignore as I can't properly bleed the system like this.

How much fluid is it pushing back into the expansion tank?
The expansion tank would always see some fluid pushed back into it at expansion, it's the reason there is a tank in the first place, and why it needs to be filled between the min and max marks when the engine is cool. Is yours overflowing or something?
Overflowing could mean a bad head gasket or block, but you block tested it already, right?

Did you pressure test the cap when you did the system check or did the radiator come with a new one? The cap until it reaches pressure shouldn't send coolant to the expansion bottle and as it cools it should return it to the radiator. With that tube open I wouldn't think there would be sufficient pressure on the system to allow it in to the expansion bottle. Maybe a Insight cap works different? In the video he raised the front of the car did you also try this?
Edit: Actually don't see raising the front as being useful you would want the bleed point to be the highest point in the system so the air would collect there to be let out.

Be sure to flush the system with a hose, as shown in the video.

Isn't tap water potentially bad for the cooling system? I have always been told to use distilled water only.

Flush with the hose, then rinse and fill with 50/50 distilled.

Too bad the video leaves out the most important part.
