Lose the engine cover. That will buy you somewhere around 1.5", and maybe a hair more if you shave your oil fill cap. It'll also remove a pound of dead weight.

The engine cover's primary purpose is cosmetic, and for me, it fails at that. I'd rather look at a valve cover and a PCV system than an IMA badge. If I liked IMA badges, mine's coming unglued from the engine cover anyway, and I could glue it to the valve cover.

Well, if the DX axles have the same transmission side as the Insight axles, you can just use them, right? Then you don't have to worry about getting new knuckles, etc.

Hey, did you get the CVT transmission or the 5 speed? Just curious, no real reason.

I believe I mentioned that before but expressed desire to use the insight twigs, since they're smaller and more insighty. Plus, one of my crx axles is going bad so either way I'd need to spend the money.

BTW, figure out shipping on those knuckles and I'll pay you money! Try to make it cheap though

Gimme an address in PM, and I'll weigh one up this weekend.

In the mean time, how much is the weight difference between the DX axles and the Insight axles? have you checked under the boots to see if you can swap the DX outers onto the Insight's shaft?

All these things are probably going to be much easier than (albeit not as cool as) swapping your hubs to HF/std hubs, which also come with smaller brakes, something you should be aware of when adding more weight to your car.

Far be it from me to be concerned about someone else's safety .

I'll still see about getting those knuck's to ya.

Thinking about it further, the brake issues with the HF hubs are a non-issue - you'll be bolting on your DX parts anyway.

You do realize that a bigger booster/MC will just make the brake pedal slightly stiffer, right?

Meanwhile, since you'll be waiting for awhile to use those Insight axles, you could still mock up everything w/ the DX axles and knuckles until the HF parts get to you.
