You're seriously going to move your crack-o-matic Magnesium oil pan closer to the road to save a plastic engine cover?

Well...
The stock insight sits about about 7.5", and the crossmember is pretty low below the oil pan, and I've never struck my oil pan, AND it's not just the plastic, the valve cover sans plastic is about 1" too high.
So, yep.

If it gets too low, you can always skid-pan it for extra protection, i.e. a skid plate attached to your belly pan, or extending from the front to rear cross member, a couple bars, anything to stop a bottom-out from allowing the pan to make contact w/ the road.

Been spending lots of hours ripping into these wire harnesses to try to eliminate wires and make decisions about what I want to keep from this harness and what I want to keep from the old harness.
Here's a stumbling block: the ignition has an immobilizer. Do I want to try to disable it and use all my stuff, or do I want to swap over the ignition cylinder. Also, I have the whole insight rack. Anyone know where I can get CRX spline info online without ripping out my rack? It might be worth it to use the insight rack...

A drill works... it's a pinch bolt that holds the steering column to the rack anyway, IIRC, it can't really slip anywhere, which means the splines aren't necessary. Even if it can slip, it would be simple enough to drill a hole through it and put a pin in, then still use the pinch bolt.

I'd remove the ignition disable, as long as it's not part of the engine computer. If it is, then you'll have to wire it in, probably.
I sit here wondering how hard it would be to grab the approximate programming of the Insight's OBD 2 computer and throw a program together that could be flashed onto a OBD1 or OBD0 ECU, so that it could be wired in to the existing harness... I'm not sure how the leanburn and etc work though, or what sensors they rely on.

I believe it's part of the ECU, it's a huge issue for people who do K swaps into older hondas.
I might just see if I can swap the rack in. I know many of the racks are interchangeable anyway, so we'll see. If anyone can find a picture of the crx lock assembly removed from the column that would help a lot, I'm having trouble finding one.
I would be working out in the garage today, but I'm feeling strange (dizzy) so I'm trying to get some of the intellectual crap out of the way...

Nevermind, I found an image and the lock cylinders don't look swappable in any case...
Anyway, I'll see if the racks are a straight swap, which would likely save me gobs of effort in trying to wire up the ignition.

Okay, the racks definitely aren't swappable. Unless I want to relocate my steering wheel to be used by my feet.
