Sorry P-hack,
You said "from the beginning". So what do you consider the beginning? In case you haven't noticed, I'm calling you out.

Well, I helped my dad solder together a new KIM-1 when I was 8. That might clarify a little.

OK, so your first involvement was in the early, early stages of the Microcomputer. Computer history goes back much farther than micro computers. I just wanted to see what you considered the beginning. Charles Babbage would probably disagree with you on when the "beginning" was.

YOU referred to being involved at the "BEGINNING of COMPUTERS". And you weren't.
Microcomputers were far from the beginning of computers, sorry. It's fun watching you try to weasel out of your erroneous brag.

lol, yah, I was there before the abacus. Lets say from the start of 4th generation then since it is still causing you some confusion.
It is interesting how the example for 5th gen is voice recognition, when the error rate is downright humerous (and a waveform far simpler than realtime stereoscopic color 3d vision).

Anybody use the original Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I microcomputer and read the book "TRS-80 Assembly Language Made Easy"?

Exactly.

I am a bit younger than others .. computers were using audio cassette tapes for data storage (pre-floppy) when I started in elementary .. although I think I'll always remember the valedictorian in my High School because he refused to use electronic calculators for anything .. He took his tests calculus , physics , etc .. with a slide rule .. and he would often still be done before others who were using the (optional) electronic calculators... but in college there were required scientific calculators for some of my classes.

"TRS-80 Assembly Language Made Easy"? You can have my copy. I recall similar debates when electronic ignition systems were required to meet emissions standards. There were outrageous columns in the car magazines when air bags were introduced. Something about air bags going off when the car went over railroad tracks. Nobody smokes a pipe in the car anymore. It is one thing to win a DARPA contest and quite another to put 50 million reliable units on the road. I put safety and control over convenience. I only use the cruise control on limited access highways. On hilly country roads the lag time is too long, one must anticipate the grade and accelerate out of a turn. As for privacy and control one need only spoof the sensors to fool the system. I decide what is appropriate technology for myself and my family. Silly politicians, socialism is for kids.

There's still people who prefer carbs, a relatively simple analog computer. I definately prefer the precision of FI, ever since I worked on my first squareback.
ABS I could live without, and traction controls are pretty crappy these days, would be better off without it. (ok, technically it stopped spinning, but the lag is horrible).
"Sensor tampering" can mean jail time, just saying. Welcome to the free world.
