There is only one coastdown protocol which was established by the SAE from which drag coefficients can be deduced. It's available in their 4-volume Handbook.
The instrumentation accuracy and meteorological monitoring requirements are so rigorous, that I don't believe its within the means of the average mortal to pull it off successfully.
I paid one of CAR and DRIVER's staff, and a helper, $500 to do the test on my CRX at the Chrysler Proving Grounds, and data reduction.
I won't attempt them on my own.

Don't need it to the 3rd decimal place....
Playing with this flow simulator....
Took the rear brakes apart tonight...worn to the metal. Looking forward to the road trip and meetup Monday.
... brand new rear brakes!
Adding a fairing in front of the rear tires, in back of the front tires, skirts on the inside of the wheels....

I am thinking of a tail for the saturn sc1. The plastic rear quarter panels are easy to unbolt, the bumper snaps off,the lights come out. It looks like it can be fully reversible except for the trunk lid. I may buy one for the mod. I'll use coroplast for the first iteration. Its cheap, easy, and light. The extension will be around 3 feet. I would like to fit the recumbent touring bike in the back without taking the rear seats out.
I wonder if I should have the tail lights in pods on struts, elevated.
Its too big of a project to start this weekend.
Coroplast bends in only one plane, no compound curves unless it's cut.

if you're only going back 3-ft,you could leave the taillights where they are and provide channels down the sides of the tail with which the lights could be seen from directly behind. With clear plex over the channels the whole thing is illuminated at night.Really good visibility with tespect to other motorists.
Then just have license plate lamps and reflectors at the back.

Hi Ben,
Yes, I could leave the stock tail lights in, but they stick out too far. I want to start tapering just above the rear wheels. This will eliminate the flat deck.
This is what it looks like with the fender removed:
This is Rich Pin removing a fender:

Yes, I might do that, and I'll put aluminium foil reflectors in back if the bulbs to make them brighter.
It would really be cool to fill the fender area with foam, carve out the shape and then glass over it.
