I just got off the phone with Linear Logic.

1) Nobody is going to be out money or a ScanGauge. The deal as organized can go through - but just for people who have already paid reformed. No new purchases.

2) reformed - if you haven't yet, please talk to Joey @ LL. (If you don't have his contact info, please PM me and I'll send it to you.)

3) EM will have an "official" SG group buy worked out in the near future. The group buy as organized in this thread is now closed (if it's not obvious yet).

Reformed: thanks for taking the initiative, and it's too bad it got messy in the end. Obviously you were only trying to get a good product to EM members at a good price.

So let's relax & wait and see what reformed, his boss & Linear Logic work out.

So what happened MetroMPG? I am not concerned about the "product" I know its a good product I have seen and heard too many people use it for it to be even remotely an iffy product. So why the hoolabulaa over the group purchase?

Well thats good news.. OK maybee ill take back the "I hope the Chinese reverse engineer it" comment..

It is good to see companies honoring the very thing that keeps them alive...

Let us know how this turns out.. If its good ill order my full priced units.

Linear Logic actively supports online group buys that are arranged in advance with the company. This wasn't a sanctioned group buy.

That's all I'm going to say about it because this is between reformed, his work & Linear Logic.

Let's allow the smoke to clear.

Here is the direct Q&A from paypal ...

If I send a refund, and it is accepted, are the fees from the original transaction credited to my account? Question :

Answer : Yes. If you send a full refund using the Issue Refund link, PayPal automatically refunds the transaction fees. If you send a partial refund, PayPal refunds part of the fees, based on the refund amount.

If you use Send Money to refund the payment after 60 days, PayPal cannot reimburse the fees for the original transaction.

So basically if you refund us our money asap, no harm no foul. So please let us know the status of this so we can re-apply the cash some where else to buy this tool ...

Well after reading the last thread, I'll wait it out a bit longer, but the refund option is an available if things get to complicated ..

Thank you ...

Well I guess I'll be getting an SG, I do have more than one car so who knows I might try to get into the "official EM" one, too.

I really, really feel bad for Reformed, though. He literally stuck his neck out just to help a bunch of strangers with a common, good cause. I hope you're not in too much trouble with your boss, buddy.

I also apologize for jumping the gun. GAWD was I po'd. Mostly because it's not like they're Toyota and I can say "fine, I'll buy a Honda you douchebags. And being the most mechanically inclined person in my family and group of friends, I'll never tell anyone to buy one of your POS cars." It's more like, wow, this is why congress passed the Sherman Act. Also, the psychic pain of being a laissez-faire conservative and getting bitten in the a$$ by it.

I hope I meet Ron one day and he and his wife buy me a beer and explain the deal. Then I'll like them so much that I'll insist on paying. We'll end up beating each other to a bloody pulp.
hi

I'll be glad they talked me out of the pale ale.

After hearing the story, I can understand the SG point of view. I know I'd get kicked off the cycling team if I told anyone how much I was getting my new bike for on the sponsor discount,

I can understand SG's point of view in not wanting their wholesale price published, and like I said to MetroMPG, I admit that was an error in judgement on my part and something that didn't cross my mind until it was just mentioned to me. For that I apologize to SG, however, I still think they should have contacted me and mentioned that in the first place, much could have been avoided.

At this point I think it has become too messy to go ahead with the buy, I have refunded half the peoples money (not sure how many have cleared yet)and the rest I am waiting on the other half to clear back into my paypal account. Says will clear by may 23rd on paypal (hopefully sooner). Yes the refund option worked so everybody gets the full amount back and doesn't have to wait for a check (thanks for the idea Nerys!). If you still want to go ahead with the buy, I think we will have to start from scratch, but I want to know everyones opinion first. What do you guys want to do?

Also as a side note, please don't feel bad for me, im not bothered that I my boss was annoyed or that I was out a few bucks in paypal fees, I was bothered because I didn't deliver what was promised to you. I sounded a little selfish in my rant but believe me, I was more irritated that I didn't come through for you guys than the rest of the I stuff mentioned.
