How did you fix the tensioner threads? Helicoil?
I am going to get the car back on the lift and try to simulate the noise. If it is the strut bearings, it should be a fairly simple process. I am hoping it isn't the struts themselves. The KYB's are $350+ for all four. I'd also do the strut bearings as well. That is another $100... But, for the $6,000 I paid for the car, I don't mind some maintenance costs. Used Honda's hold their value well and I am trying to keep this car for a while. I just don't want to dump too much money into it.

I changed so much stuff at once, it's hard to know how much improvement was due to the poly bushings. I lowered on Ground Control coilovers and Koni STR.T (orange) struts and shocks since they were done for at 160k miles.
I used a Time-Sert kit and a few prayers to the Machine Gods to fix the threads. It seems to have done the trick.
$6000? Pretty low miles on yours? I picked mine up for under $3k, but the tranny was making an awful racket, suspension was getting tired, and it had "B*tch" etched into the door by the original owner's spiteful ex-boyfriend.

Whenever my struts go, I was going to replace them with KYB's. But, those STR.Ts aren't too much more. But, I hope my struts last a long time!
It had 92,000 when I bought it. KBB was over $7,000. It has some peeling paint on the doors in front of the window seals. It also needed tires when I bought it. Other than that, it was in really great condition. The roof is starting to oxidize, but I can't really stop that.

Strut mounts will make a horrible racket when they wear out. If its handling fine, and feels tight, that's probably it. When I switched to pillow mounts, I couldn't believe the extra noise from leaving them slightly lose (hard to tighten a air strut center bolt, while its on the car).

I know, the strut mounts are on the back of my mind. They are really hard to diagnose.
Also, I am wondering if the hubcaps are bouncing around on the wheels? It is a long shot, but something I am eventually going to check on.

Just got my best tank yet!
801 miles
11.721 gallons
68.3 mpg
That bumps me up from 13th to 10th in the team. (Fantastic that we have so many great cars/drivers on this team!)
Also bumps me up from 6th to 4th on the Top 10 % over EPA list.

Wow very impressive ^^^
Just got 53MPG today in my '90 CRX HF,with my brother in the car and it loaded down with a heavy toolbox.Definitely room for improvement.
Stock 1990 CRX HF
JDM D15B Shortblock
(OBD-1 VTEC version)
D15B6 Head/Intake/ECU
~289,6xx miles
Only ecomod is the Mpguino,I have a set of VX rims ready to go on ( just need tires ) and the car will eventually get a lean-burn motor I REALLY want a D15Z1.I grabbed a D16Y5 earlier this week out of the JY,came from a wrecked HX,and just grabbed the ECU today for it as well..I'd love to do the swap but the OBD-2 aspect of it is kind of the dark-side it seems..The Z1 seems ideal..anyways glad to make it here!
Keep it up guys!
Happy 4th of July
:]

Great job PaleMelanesian ! You always impress me with your summer tanks. I know you can do a 70 mpg tank with the Fit this summer!
