those panel gaps!

I saw a white Model 3 with aero wheels just like this today, and had a chance to walk around it and get a good look.

I don't know what constitutes "terrible" panel gaps, but they were definitely inconsistent comparing the f/r doors & the gap around the hood itself.

The panel gap conversation is boring to me, as the only gaps I ever notice are after I accidentally rip my bumper off going through something I shouldn't have. I understand that it can be upsetting to someone who just plunked down $50k on new wheels though. It's also usually fixable. I'd bet someone that was squeaky enough could get Tesla to fix it.

I don't really see it in this fuzzy photo though.

While it really does seem trivial, it says something about manufacturing techniques/sophistication when a factory can't produce consistent part tolerances.

Maybe it's not technically important because they're only body panels. But it raises the question of what other unseen parts/engineering might be sub-par.

Or maybe it is just play in the door catch, door seals and hinges.

IIRC it has been reported that some rubber seals weren't pushed into place properly.
That could offset the door enough to create uneven gaps, but should be an easy fix on the production side.

Tesla is outselling all other small to mid-size luxury cars grouped by marque (example, BMW 2, 3, 4, 5 series sales combined, Mercedes C, CLA, CLS, E sales combined):

Although the real news to me in the infographic is that more than 1000 people were masochistic enough to buy Alfa Romeo Giulias in one month.

What I want to know: Why do they show a Model X in the Model 3 infographic?

Journalistic panel gap!

Funny how everyone clutches their pearls over the Model 3's panel gaps, when exclusive and expensive cars like the first- and second-gen Viper had huge and inconsistent gaps and no one batted an eye, or seems to care today on the used market.

For myself, I chalk it up to--that's what you get with a hand-built car.

My Accord has a panel gap because I replaced the fender and I do not know what I am doing.

So, Tesla has my skill level?
