The car represents the company’s first attempt at a compact hybrid, and it’s a rather impressive one at that.
Oops. The Gen I Prius is a compact car. Where did this guy get his info?

I think it's a fine gimmick to have the solar roof do some cooling when parked - I hate getting into a scorching hot car in summer. But is it really so unfeasible to have it do more? Do some Battery Minder style charging of the 12V for example, or add even a little back into the traction battery. Add some intelligence to it that the driver can interact with. Example, driving to work in the morning and parking all day is different from driving to the mall on Saturday and parking for an hour or two. Very different things can be accomplished in those scenarios. And even while underway it seems you should be able to get some juice from it into the regen loop.

...start small & simple, then "improve" things and charge more for those improvements--good ole' automotive marketing "salesmanship" at work.

I wonder what kind of mileage it gets when the unintended acceleration hits.

There was a young fellow named Jake
who made the most silly mistake
He drove through the wall
and into the hall
when he mixed up the gas and the brake.

True story.

...wonder if Toyota-USA has any plans to change their current TV-ad motto from "...Moving forward (whether you want to or not)" to something new?

Wow! It's really a great.
l like hybrid cars.Because Hybrids help the environment by using less fuel.
Since an electric car runs off a battery charged from electricity rather than fuel from an internal combustion engine, it produces far less pollution than a conventional car as electric plants can more efficiently produce energy than internal combustion engines.

I agree. I can't hardly stand driving with my moon roof completely open at night. The street lights bug the crap out of me.
