They hit it AND fled the scene, which means they were drunk drivers. I agree a drunk driver will have trouble doing anything and it would be better for a computer to be driving. Day to day, computers need to be BETTER than regular drivers not just similar to a drunk driver.

Point is, autonomous systems meant to make driving safer should do more than nothing when encountering a stopped vehicle directly ahead, especially if it's a fire truck.

I'm a huge fan of AV tech, which is why I'm critical of it.
