I haven't seen any races, but know of them and the concept. The only car I know much of anything about is this one:
I have been thinking about trying to make patch panels for the rust on the car as well as aero mods. I need to finish maintenance on my bike and clean the garage up first.
Which way do you think will be better for aerodynamics?
Jokes aside, I got this with the furnace. Something I am thinking about trying to mess with is one of these vents as a grill block. Seems like an easy mechanism to work with. As you can tell in the above pic I am in need of a new block.

I have seen that video for the Miata. Love it. The wing is way cool. Ecomodder could sponsor a team with an aero, FE, and chassis-mod smart strategy. No stops on each of the two 8-hour days instead of fastest lap times. Could do really well if the car held up mechanically.

I was kind of thinking the same. One of my friends has talked about making a team several times. I've got too many projects right now though, so that thought will have to take the back burner.
Racing is a common interest in my friend group. We've been talking about going to an autocross event at some point. I need to get my 300zx put back together first though. They want to run 2 c4's (one convertible one not) and the last guy has a 03 S2000.

A couple friends and I have been shopping (semi-seriously) for a car for the 24 hours of LeMons. At roughly 10lbs/HP after stripping the car, you'd have plenty power to place really well. Then some intelligent and maybe flamboyant aeromods and cheapo suspension tweaks... cut springs and such... and ... BUTTERIBLE FUN FOR ALL!

Used the van to get a cabinet for a friend. I'm at 230 miles and a quarter tank. I did pull an empty car trailer for about 1/4 tank and a car on the trailer for another 1/4 tank so that makes me feel better, but dang. If the gauge is accurate that's 11.5 MPG. The mercury has gotten me spoiled about fuel mileage.

My work truck's brakes are acting up, so I loaded two shovels, a digging bar, a few levels and a roll of plastic in the beetle and drove 45 miles into the Heart of Darkness (Seattle). It was nice to run it again.

Stuff I took off the eBike, and blue battery shrink wrap I bought for the reinstall attempt. Stupid fear of electric shock is a big procrastination enhancer, I find. Someone should bottle it, or make an app to sell to enemies...

I drove mine
That Lemons Miata is awesome!
I ran a couple of in-town errands with the MPGiata today. That's about the extent of my car-related activity in the past week or so. I generally ride my bike for in-town transportation, but I had to carry some bulky items, and didn't feel like loading up the cycle.
I'm thinking of making some quick 'n' dirty partial rear skirts for it before I stuff it back in the storage shack for the winter at the end of the month.

I heard a different noise when braking this morning so I greased the calipers up. Previously I had used a multipurpose grease and it doesn't seem to have lasted very long as one of the guide pins was very hard to move. This time I remembered I had some caliper grease sitting in the tool box and used it. Hopefully it will last longer this time. I also cleaned the car out, removed a decent amount of junk from the trunk.

My parents' 2005 Camry has one caliper that makes a funny noise under light braking that is cured by re-greasing the pins. Have to do it once or twice a year... and it's due right now!
