I like this idea. I have seen some small deep cycle batteries that are still fairly light... I wonder.

I would look to the sound system (for substitutions that are lighter) and to the engine (also for lighter substitutions). Body substitutions, such as using existing body parts as a plug for a mold for fiberglass fabrication of identical, paintable parts that are lighter (trunk, fenders, hood would probably be easiest). Lightweight aluminum pulleys of the same sizes, like wheels, would reduce effectively twice as much "weight" by reducing twice their weight in rotational mass. These are ideas I have. My car is like an ancient Buddhist temple that monks are gradually completely rebuilding in replica as the parts rot or break.

With the back seat and passanger seat delete also deleted belts and passanger airbag. (Electrical tape over the Airbag light on the dash so I don't see that it is on all the time.
Ground off the rear tow hook, removed front tow hooks via bolts.
Moved battery to back seat floor and got the smallest/lightest Lead acid car battery.
Removed passanger wiper and added two inches to drivers wiper.
Currently grinding on the passagner rear door want to remove reinforments and replace glass with plastic.
All the other ones discussed above. All total 225lbs so far.

3.6 miles from my morning commute.
1.6-3.6 miles (depending on whether I need to do anything in town after work) from my afternoon commute.
Saved miles and got better FE due to lower speeds.

And I deleted 40# of "spare tire" from the "nut behind the steering wheel". mostly for health reasons) That's transferable between my vehicles. It helped my FE a bit, and it helped my skiing ability a LOT. It also increased my tolerance for hot weather, so I use the AC less.

You can usually plug a resistor into the connector to fool the airbag ECU into thinking the removed airbag is still there.
On some cars, it's worth knowing that none of the remaining airbags will function if there's a fault detected ie airbag light on.

I've deleted nothing. When school starts next week, the back seat will see daily use again. The radio antenna is retracted but not deleted.

I've added a Scangauge, grille block, overnight battery charger and air in the tires.

The weight of the driver matters. :-)
Been riding my bike, I've dropped almost 12 lbs. Almost down to my ideal weight of 150.
I also dropped 400 lbs of passenger weight of my carpool members since I changed jobs. Mixed emotions here as they were paying all of my fuel for a while.
Deleted- passenger mirror, A/C belt.

- Passenger mirror
- Rear seats
- Rear seatbelts
- A/C compressor, condenser, piping, etc.
- Used to keep the front passenger seat out, but it's convenient to keep it in.
- Belly pan (not intentionally, drove through some deep water which tore it off)

The AC needed to be charged, but I never used it anyway, so cut it all out. Taking out the rear seats made a lot more cargo space.
