This thread should be revived! I'm curious to hear of some other ideas.
I've deleted some things from my RAV:
roof rack,
right side mirror,
replaced left side mirror with a smaller one,
rear window wiper,
spoiler on good weather,
spare tire cover (more for looks then MPG obviously),
and back seat head rests and floor mats.
My dilemma, is I always like to be ready for anything. And often it's helping someone else. I've added so many things, which far outweighs what I've removed (various tools, jumper cables, survival kit, etc). I took my back seats out because I never used them, only to need them for the first time, and several times!!! But now that they're back... I haven't needed them once!!! AHHH!!! I'd love to take out the A/C, but my Mom and Grandma appreciate having it when they occasionally ride with me.
So... my solution to the problem??? Buy a different car for hypermiling only!! LOL. That way I get the best of both worlds.
The '96-'00 Civic HX I'd like to get will be stripped down to the lightest I can get it.
Where we live, you have to have a high clearance, 4x4 rig in the Winter. A front-wheel drive, lowered civic is a joke! RAVadoodle will still be helpful.
Now, I just need to learn to not LOVE the feel of a panel rattling subwoofer with 800 additional watts being drawn and probably an extra 30 lbs of weight.... *sigh* Probably won't happen....
I look forward to adding a LONG list to this thread some day!

You're probably not actually drawing 800 watts with your subwoofer, ever. That's a lot of power, and it's probably what it's rated to handle. How often do you actually max out your sub? With that kind of power, you're probably drawing less than 10% of maximum most of the time. It's still weight, and it's still about the same as running an extra pair of headlights whenever you listen to the stereo, but 800W in a car that size would have you completely deaf in a year.

I've actually "added" some items:
HV battery trickle charger 10% increase in mileage when used with MIMA
MIMA HV battery control board; see above
Underbody smoothing panels (foam/fiberglass) 5% increase in mileage
3.5 foot long tail (foam/fiberglass) 10% increase in mileage
FAS engine cutoff board 10% increase in mileage
Jim.

I've found a tyre repair kit from my motorcycling days, and threw it in the boot.
Not sure if it will still work as it's over 10 years old.

I've been having a hella hard time lately with bicycle flats, and my tube repairs have all failed. Well, I used to be able to successfully patch tubes, so I'm thinking there must be a shelf life for the patch kits and mine are simply too old.

I deleted the A/C because it didn't work and I am going to get rid of it to make more room for the turbo and the A/C condencer being gone will make room for the intercooler.

Nothing. I like my vehicle to be an eco sleeper... people pull up and think one thing, but that fancy gauge is just saying 35+ mpg
(I just installed my scan gauge, and so far my mileage is at 35 + mpg)

Did an a/c and power steering delete (that also eliminated idler and tensioner pullies) on the Tempo, as well as significant re-gearing of the alternator and water pump to slow them down.

*Sigh* So, after thinking about all of the things I ACTUALLY NEED in the RAV, I decided to reduce some weight. Probably about 20 lbs!
~ Back seats are out again.
~ Rubber mat and carpet padding that extended from the front seats back, has been replaced with the factory carpet. Which is actually very light.
~ A lot of tools and survival equipment gone. Come on, what's the likely hood of needing to "survive" when you have a cell phone, spare tire & jack, and a well maintained vehicle??? Lol, I guess I read too many adventure stories growing up!!
~ back seat handles above the doors.
~ Fuel tank guards. I needed them out of the way to attach angle bars to attach a belly pan. Probably an even trade of weight there.
So, RAVadoodle is more stock then she was, in a sense. Lol, and it sounds like I'm in a tin can now too! Oh well, it's worth getting that extra .00? MPG!
