I thought about adding a layer of insulation to the wheel wells of the TSX since I get so much road noise (even more running 40psi tires). What I'd really like to add is active noise reduction. I would think it would be easy since I already have speakers, but so far I haven't seen anyone that has done it.
I'm not willing to delete a thing on my TSX, but I have thought of an alternator cuttoff switch and a LiIon battery.
I put on an under-driven aluminum pulley which eliminated about 10lbs. The thing is, I get pretty much the same mpg no matter how much weight I have because I'm so efficient at coasting and staying off of the brake. Weight reduction only increases fun factor for me (acceleration speed).

I'm surprised you are ok being in a tin can since you enjoy your music. Noisy cars are a pet peeve of mine because it forces me to turn the music up louder to hear it, and then I have to yell to talk to passengers or people on the phone.

Deleted Power steering belt as the car is very light(2,180 lbs) and is easy to steer without it.
Deleted mechanical fan, and fan shroud to reduce engine drag and lessen weight. Even in the record heat wave has not overheated.
Deleted spare tire and jack. Carry an air pump and plug kit which weigh far less and suit my needs in most cases of tire issues.
Deleted heavy rubber mats. Again to reduce weight and do not really need them.
Deleted extra trim and padding in trunk to reduce weight. Road noise does not bother me in the least.
Thinking of deleting some sheet metal in some places and replacing with lexan. And in the realm of fantasy I would like to do a complete rebuild using lightweight magnesium alloy with the frame and suspension then redo the body in carbon fiber or saturn like plastic body. Replace windows with non dot approved but lighter plexiglass.

This is way off subject of the thread. But oh well, I'm going for it!
Truthfully, I'm not okay with being in a tin can. I enjoy music, and lots of subwoofer thudding, enough to pay for it every time I go somewhere. But until I find a light weight alternative, I'm stuck with it. Pick your battles, in a sense. MY pet peeve is to not bother OTHER people with my music. I have probably 8 sheets of "Hushmat" in various places through out the inner body to help keep the "noise" in, and panels from rattling. I've grabbed a few sheets of factory door insulating material. Very light weight. I'll be adding that sometime.
My RAV came with a sprayed on sound barrier that completely covers the underside as well as the wheel wells. Probably weighs a lot! So I don't know what it's called or where to get it, but I have done some research on sound deadening material and have a few links that might help in your search.
secondskinaudio.com
Secondskinaudio - spectrum sludge
Hushmat.com
And lastly the link to my RAV forum where I was asking questions. It's a pretty short thread. RAV4World - Sound Dampening the Interior
Hopefully this will give you some ideas.

I've removed the molded "mud flaps" and the rear wing from Baa, my latest steps in trying to clean up the aero a bit.
I've only done one fill so far, 5.84 l/100km, my second best fill.
Even if removing the rear wing only has minimal aero impact .... at least I can see out the back window better now.

That's a safety mod.

The front mud guards are gone, and the side mirrors are replaced with video mirrors -- both done to reduce aerodynamic drag.

Outside mirror (car only came with one)
Rear seats and belts
Front pass seat (easy to put back in)
Tar under carpet
Pass wiper
Some interior plastic
Half of the rocker arms!
Some small steel brackets, etc.
Rear window air deflector
Mud flaps
I'm tempted to take out the spare and associated tools for an additional savings of 26 lbs.
Do the chunks of rusty metal falling off count?

I'm thinking it might've come with a couple of extra valves per cylinder...
