The huge lie about global warming came from Hollywood. The movie Watherworld shows Earth nearly completelly by water.
IMHO the idea was firmly established when Waterworld mocked it.
It was a myth that Dry Land existed, but it did.
.

I mean seriously, the Exxon Valdez was converted into a rowboat.

Also Transformers and the MCU don't exist.

The 97% consensus who don't believe climate change, environment, pollution is the most important problem is everyone. So probably at least 90% of dems don't even think it's the most important problem.
You can pretend the number is different of that makes you feel better.

Plus if you don't drive an electric but try to lecture people about global warming you're just a hypocrite.

If you don't minimize your carbon footprint through a holistic life change, whatever that means (whether using the least car possible, going electric or cycling/commuting), you mean.

EVs are not a 100% solution for all. Just a partial solution for some.

This discussion reminds me of one I'm having on another forum where the hypothesis was that if Dems controlled more political office in 2016, EVs would have really taken off.

My point was that even if 75% of EV enthusiasts were Dems, the fact that only 1% of all people are enthusiasts (what's 75% of 1%) means we'd roughly be where we are today with EV penetration. Just because the majority of one niche group of people tend to associate with a particular group doesn't mean that the group tends to reciprocate the same values.

In other words, if 75% of all skinhead racists (I don't know what the marker for modern hardcore racist is) identify with the Republican party, that doesn't mean that Republicans identify with racism.

That other forum sounds like a massive time sink. Unless it's alternate history time-lines. But mapping environmental practices on a one-dimensional spectrum?

Live in your head with your physical body in a bubble.

I'm good at sinking time; at least among the best.

It's the Chevy Bolt forum and there's other bright people on there willing to engage in reasonable dialogue. I don't own a Bolt, but have intended to for several years now.

EVs sales can't take off.
Toyota ran out of batteries multiple times building the prius, tesla ran out of batteries a few times, nissan ran out of batteries at least once, hyundai just ran out of batteries for the kona this july.
Even if EV sales really took off we would barely be at 1% of the US fleet being electric.
I don't know where all these batteries are going to come from.

"All Dark" can't understand science, so lumps science with something he can understand, Hollywood..... maybe with cartoons, also.

Another AGW denier, triggered off by another AGW denier, repeats the Hollywood connection, believing a repeat, causes truth.
