IMO building a jungle gym cage for 1-2 trips to the track a year is overboard. Unless I plan on spending a lot of time at the strip I go with the least complex cage I can get away with.

I agree with you completely on this one. I just can't get my self to build a cage that will make the car not as much fun to drive on a daily bases. If I go and make it a full cage then I need to get all the other things certified. At that point I might as well remove a ton more weight and make the car run low 9's. Then I will have another tin can race car that won't be used much anymore. I always got to stay focus on what I built this thing for, to be ran all seasons and to work on FE strategies.

Well my FE is taking some heavy hits lately.lol
Been testing waste solvent at medium to high loads. I'm learning that not all waste solvent is the same. I picked up a 55 gallon of waste solvent that is great for high load but not so much for FE? I have to come up with some tests to categorize these waste solvent fuels. Its getting much more complicated then I thought.

I'm also using the Talon for the test bed for the Insight when it comes to waste solvent. It would be very cool to have the Insight run waste solvent and have a 130 mpg equivalent or .02 cents a mile.

Update:

OK it looks like I have enough waste solvent now to last me clear into next Summer. So I'm thinking I might get a used Honda Generator and run it on waste solvent also and use it to run my heaters this winter in my garage.
I need make a few changes to the Talon and a lot of modifications to the Insight so heat will be a must.

I'm also going back to my single intake valve system on the Talon. I modified one of the lifters or "lash adjuster" to only open one intake valve about 1/8" off the seat and it has about 1/3 of the duration compared to stock. This helps with swirl and makes ultra lean burn work a lot better. It still has decent power though, enough to keep the car fun in the winter.

I wanted to get it to the track but I still need to purchase a new fuel regulator, bigger injectors 2150 cc/min. and a larger waste gate, but I'm out of $$$. So I will have to wait until next year for track times and dyno numbers.

Lol, just stick to collecting the waste solvent that you know works best for FE.

I kinda got myself in a pickle.lol Its like I'm the junk collector and the shops are starting to count one me picking their waste solvent up every month.

OK I need some help.lol

I'm considering doing a presentation on my modified Talon for our local College. Speaking in public is terrifying to me!!! So I'm going to have a friend give the speech and I will answer questions after. I will also have the Talon there with a few props to explain how the modified parts work. The good news I have over a year before this needs to happen. Our local College is building a new massive Tech Center that will open August 2016.

My wife will help me write the Outline because my writing skills suck.
So my question for you my friends is how much information do I talk about?

Some things that I want to cover.
What is Ecomodding.
What modifications are used today to increase FE.
Chart showing of these modifications and how much do they help in FE.
Lean Burn technology.
Today and tomorrows Automobile Emissions.
Paint waste solvent disposal.

Just the thought of doing this is giving me Anxiety. I want to contribute what I have learned and pass it on in hopes it will inspire some young thinking
minds.

A tip I got was to do some mental math in your head before you go on stage. Apparently that puts you in a better frame of mind. Anyway, I kind of enjoy public speaking nowadays.
