State simply and clearly what your question is.

Already tried and is still on the car. (From Volo)

Did nothing for the Ford, was even exchanged for an improved model still nothing.

You pass yourself off as some expert in chemistry and thermodynamics.

Burned is burned, same amount of oxygen, same amount of carbon, same amount of hydrogen, same engine wasting 70% of the heat energy.

Where does vaporizing the gas early help? How do you inject that? Or do we go back to carburation as a means of fuel introduction? How do you not blow yerself up?

You come across as trying to be a learned fellow, yet, somehow basic concepts in chemistry and thermodynamics seem to be no reason in your mind to spoil a crazy idea.
Except you are not.

so, touche! Welcome to the internet.

" State simply and clearly what your question is."

Is that a question?

The question was do the US made and programed PCMs stop all improvements in MPG?

Are they programed to spoil any thing over say 30MPG?

That was my original question, I was hoping that a site researching MPG for over 5 years I have know of it would have done more research than aerodynamics and coasting, I was wrong.

I can see now from the The Unicorn Corral and how you react to anything not of the chosen subjects I was wrong.

Not here not no how.

I do not!

I question and talked about what I have read and what I think is part of the problem.

IF I was a expert I would have no need to ask questions and to talk here.

OBD II is simply a standard for diagnosis. The actual software/hardware functions are highly variable. You will not find a single "silver bullet" that will magically help any vehicle out there, as far as engine efficiency.

That is why driving style and aerodynamic mods are the first things to perform - the low hanging fruit.

If you want a research platform to do your work on, you can keep the Ford, but integrate in a Megasquirt engine control system to achieve total control.

That jab was at Chaz - because he is a knowledgeable fellow.

And no, there is no great conspiracy to keep you . . .

. . . from achieving greater fuel economy.

The current OBDII systems are just much more complex.

And, I do have extensive experience and knowledge of HHO and vapor engines. And no, they don't double your fuel mileage. They still must follow the laws of thermodynamics.

That was one of the ideas I was considering.

Which is why the question on the PCM.

It is a stated fact by many automotive reports that the PCM has been programed to run dirty, to use more fuel than need just to keep the cat lit/hot.

There was (and I cannot put my hands on it, I have been researching these ideas for more that 10 years) a article/report supposedly written by the very man that invented the Chevy Tuned Port Intakes that originally it gave 45+ MPG and burned so clean there was no need for a CAT.

BUT as cats were mandatory and such great MPG was outlawed he was forced to detune it.

But that maybe why the Easter Egg "Lean Burn Cruse" was left in the PCM for those early cars.

There are so many such reports out there...
