Wow. From wikipedia:
"LadaCanada started importing in 1979. The first model was the Lada 2106, with a 1500 cc engine. Later, the Lada Niva, a 1.6L 4x4 Lada, did very well, with over 12,000 sold the first year. For me, today, when/if I get time I'll continue running-down source of intermittent electrical failure causing "false" O2 and VSS DTC codes to light up every once in a while.

Got the trunk open on the Fiat. Then I pulled the cylinder and worked it back and forth to loosen it up. Put it back together, closed the trunk and couldn't get it open again. Had to pull the back seat and undo the latch to get it open. Then tried again while paying more attention to alignment and got it. Now it opens as soon as you turn the key. The trunk is pretty impressive for such a small car.

Well, your Fiat's trunk is superior to an 06 BMW 3 series, which in REALLY GOOD SHAPE still makes it stupid hard to open the trunk WITH THE MECHANICAL KEY whenever the battery dies.

Working on my electrical problem. The ECU harness connectors do not pin out as the FSM says and the wire color coding is not always correct. Nonetheless, my p0141 and p0135 O2 heater circuit codes appear to be caused by an open in the circuit control line from the ECU connector to the sensors.
Maybe finish the diagnosis on the VSS tomorrow.

Had a few hours to spare, so I welded on my suburban narrowing/boat tail project until I ran out of shielding gas. I got most of the structural welds and many other welds on the drivers side done. I have to swap over to my spool gun and 100% argon tank for an aluminum project, so it will be a bit before I continue.

With no shielding gas and other priorities, tore into the 1999 4Runner ("Griffin", V6, 5spd, 4x4) this evening for some preventative maintenance. Replaced all 6 plugs and all 3 plug wires. Dropped the skid plate, drained coolant, pulled radiator hoses. Loosened the three tensioners and pulled the three flat belts. Ran out of time and wanted to get new coolant so didn't get it back together today.

Got the new belts installed, the radiator hoses replaced, the rear heat lines blocked off, and coolant refilled. Need to finish deleting the (never used) rear heat. Put a manual inclinometer to guage ascent/descent slopes. Began working on a ram mount for my GPS.
Edit: Almost forgot, changed the turn signal stalk to gain fog light controls. Added fog light fuse and relay.
