Fixed a rattly heat shield on the exhaust this aft.

Rusted clamp....

Also accomplished another tiny amount of weight reduction by twisting some stainless wire to re-secure the shield instead of putting a new clamp on.

Got my front skid plate/belly pan done. Holes are for fog lights and hidden receiver cover, which are not done yet.

Gave my a/c a sniff of 134 now I get 44 degree air at 2000 rpm. Low side is 26 and the high side is 225 on a 95 degree day.
Started disassembly on the 2007 Saab 9-3 high pressure parts car. I have to figure out how to fit all the intercooler stuff in my L200.
Tomorrow we go to the local ski resort to watch autocross, my future son in law has a 2008 P71 he wants to flog. The big Ford runs pretty well but it is heavy, I imagine after this he will want some 9” wide Mustang wheels and some sticky tires. Then it will need more power, so it begins.....

So I have been told that anytime you need to add refrigerant, you have a leak. My wife's Subaru needs an A/C boost. How long do you expect this boost to last?

I replaced the compressor a couple years ago and I don’t think I ever got it full. The autocross event was a blast, 40 cars each got 5 runs on the course. The street cars run the morning session and the P71 ran a 60 second flat best time. Not bad for a first time driver, definitely not the slowest. Then the afternoon brought out the built cars on race tires and coilovers etc. the fastest time was a Wrx at 46 seconds, that really pissed off the Mustang and Corvette crowd. LOL.

Got the turbine housing separated on the turbo for the z31. Only took 6 weeks of soaking, heat, and a little persuasion. Now to get the dang thing rebuilt!

junk pile re-use

15 years ago I bought my first Metro/Firefly, which came with a bad front exhaust pipe.

('98 Firefly that had 145k kms on it)

I replaced the pipe, but for some reason kept the old part and threw it in my junk pile of exhaust bits & pieces.

This weekend, I used it!

I hacked apart and tacked together bits from 2 rusty pipes to create a sort-of passable placeholder, which went on my black Firefly.

15 years to re-use some saved junk has to be some kind of record for me.

I can no longer get this front pipe in Canada from the usual parts stores.
