Coal it's a smaller problem, in terms of competition with solar and with eolic energy.
Oil for other side... Well, before the schock of oil in 70's, also acalled oil crises, made orient producer increase the prices a lot. In other words, today they can reduce the price and still get good profit. If solar and eolic start to anoy oil producer in orient, they will reduce the prices to try to destroy ecologic energy market.
About sexism. Women have more incidence of depression, but man are more prone to suicide. Strange... How explain that ???
On Brazil almost every dead of women is called feminicide if the murder was a man. But if a woman in revenge kills a man who cheated her, it's didn't get a special name.
I treated thendinits in 3 clinics rulled by women. In one, a male physiotherapist said the woman who owns the clinic did not wanted to hire hin because she didn't like man, considered man as relaxed, as having poor quality work, and the therapist had to promess a lot and said he would be different, just to get the job. If was a man owner of a clinic, saying that find women as bad workers, the wourld would fall over hin and feminist would ask his head and drink his blood.
In this same clinic a girl physiotherapist nearly (dissimulated) appeared to flirted with me, since a man man near me called my attention to her gestures in front me , and once I heard her talk, with a patient, about her mother in law. Probably was married.
In other clinic two girls phsiotherapist flirted with me, both had boyfriends.
But in end, for most women, just man are dogs... and women are victms.

If they put that energy into a treadmill they would be a cleaner energy source than coal, but no.

It looks like The Consensus has moved on:
20,000 scientists give dire warning about the future in 'letter to humanity'
Quote:
20,000 scientists give dire warning about the future in 'letter to humanity' – and the world is listening
A dire warning to the world about its future, which predicts catastrophe for humanity, is continuing to gain momentum.
The letter – which was first released in November – has now been signed by around 20,000 scientists. And the world seems to be listening: it is now one of the most discussed pieces of scientific research ever, and its publishers claim it is now influencing policy.
The new letter was actually an update to a an original warning sent from the Union of Concerned Scientists that was backed by 1,700 signatures 25 years ago. It said that the world had changed dramatically since that warning was issued – and almost entirely for the worse.
Mankind is still facing the existential threat of runaway consumption of limited resources by a rapidly growing population, they warned. And “scientists, media influencers and lay citizens” aren’t doing enough to fight against it, the letter read.
If the world doesn’t act soon, there will be catastrophic biodiversity loss and untold amounts of human misery, they wrote.
Now scientists have written a follow-up piece in which they argue scientists and economists need to switch their focus from encouraging growth to conserving the planet. “There are critical environmental limits to resource-dependent economic growth,” the authors state.

I think people don't like babies !!!
Well, most like to play with babies, take pictures, in a similar way they like puzzy cats... But they don't really like the human being these babies will become, otherwise they wouldn't destroy the world this way to leave a fu... planet for them, polluted and with a superpopulation number, just because they want money and don't want less people to take care of old people.
Babies along history were also a way of sexual afirmation, for fatherhood and motherhood specially. Poor countries probably still have such afirmation value in their cultures.
Some african countries have people who do not accept birth controll and need international help to have food. But it's a food race, since population don't stop growing, and soon or later will get out of control and run out food.

Considering a mega coronal mass ejection like we saw in 2012 could destroy modern civilization is only ever as little as 13 or 14 hours away, not going to worry about what the climate might do 100 years from now.

The hugest registered to hit Earth was in late 19 century, and burnd some telegrapher lines, or something like that.
Indian, natives, would not feel, but a modern world as today, addicted to electricity, would be severelly damaged. Voltage transformator would burn in nearly a entire side of globe, and would take months to repalce all, or even year or more in poor countries.
There should be a master plan for this possible situation.
And the world keep going more and more dependent of electricity even for basic thins, as water and food, since agriculture without modern technology can't produce enough food for the world population.
But I believe many people would kill thenselves before food run out, since the lost of web connection would drive many people insane or suicider.

Telegraph and telephone lines were very sensitive to solar flares as they are basically giant antennas; designed to operate at low voltage, a minor voltage spike from a flare may create havoc at the terminals.
Power lines are less sensitive as the voltage is higher and the apparatus attached to it are designed to handle high voltage. Shielded and underground lines should be safe anyway.
Telecommunication is using higher frequencies, meaning smaller antennae and less vulnerability.
A huge solar flare would create problems, you bet. But nothing like a total system collapse.

The Carrington event was merely the first after the discoveries of Faraday. The Charlemagne event was 20x.
