I got an iPod Touch 2nd-hand for $25. It's like an iPhone without the security risks of a camera and microphone. You could download podcasts much faster than you can listen to them.

Beachfront property will be more valuable!

With earthquakes, the telluric current determine the location but the timing is determined by sunspots. (Sunspots are the Solar equivalent of anvil-head thunderstorms on Earth)
What does it take to support such an animal? I'm spending $35/mo for unlimited talk on phone cards for the flip phone. That's all the budget I have for communications. We just raised our POA dues, and simultaneously got hit with a 22% property tax increase, for a net loss in annual income.Love it!

Sprint has unlimited talk/text/data for $15/mo.

I've got the wife on Google Project Fi for $20 (unlimited talk/text). It uses either Sprint (CDMA) or Tmobile (GSM) networks depending on what is available in the area. Data is $10/GB.

The government can spy on me all they want. Only thing they will learn is that I tell a lot of fart jokes and wish I owned a helicopter.

A USB cable (A to micro).

You could use iTunes to manage things, but I just dragged files on the desktop (with my first (stolen) one). It has wi-fi so you have Internet access, but there's no cellular telephony.

You can get one with the money you save following redpoint5's advice. I know all about fixed income.

It isn't just cities. Some 14% of global farmland is at threat.
No problem, everybody move over a bit, eat some less, we'll manage.

I've lived with non-family members nearly continuously all my life, including people from Mexico and El Salvador. I'd be happy to take in any good people. Living in the States, our homes are big and our land is plentiful.

My comment was mostly a joke, but to answer your serious warning of a catastrophe to come; history doesn't seem to support your thesis. In the past 100 years, we've had about 8" of sea level rise and associated loss of coastal land. Here's what food supply has done during this same time:

The rise in agricultural output is mainly due to increased mechanization, better pest control, improved crops, fertilizers and farm management. But you cannot keep improving those indefinitely; population growth and land reduction will inevitably break the trend.

Good job on taking in other people. We're not that spacious, and barely above sea level (as yet). I won't see my house flood over, but my son might

Still, I'm better of than half of my nation living below sea level, dikes protecting them.
Raising a dike say 2 meters makes them about 4 times as expensive.

I'm not saying you're wrong about sea rise causing a crisis, only stating that it isn't the only possible outcome, and it isn't clear to me to what extent the problem will be.

I agree that rates of growth are unsustainable, but I predict the slowing of population growth will accelerate due to many factors, mostly that women will continue to become educated and enter the workforce, and delaying children has the effect of reducing family size since there is a small fertile window. Then there is VR porn. Young men are becoming impotent due to overstimulation, and their motivation to pursue and maintain a relationship with a real women is reduced. Women will also be less interested in sedated and effeminate men.

RedPoint, did you double-post four minutes apart?

Salvadorans are great people, always eager to share their cheese with people not fortunate enough to be from El Salvador. I had a Mexican roommate throw six blocks of Salvadoran cheese people gave him on the counter. He tried to eat it, but it was too hard!

The trend will break upward as what's called 'vertical farming' disrupts the connection to land and water (requiring 1/10th as much of each) and pest control.

So— sexbots for both genders?
