Ok, let's put charging time by side, just for a while.
Sure, skip right over Sputnik.

I said just for a while...
And Sputnik was a primitive junk making "bip bip", and the rocket technology that put it on orbit was the reall breakthrough.

I supose that 2,5x the enerdy densit of actual Lithium batteries it's a bit more important than the charging time. With 700 miles range you get like actual cars. But even ate 1/3 of the price of actual lithium packs, it's still more expansive than gas engines with fuel tanks.

The hazard with 4,160v power is arc flash.
It's 3rd degree burns faster than you can blink your eyes.
But the enclosures are designed to contain this type of fault.
People using it would be in no more danger than people filling up cars with gasoline.
All the hazards are limited to the guy working on the charger system when it breaks down or needs service or anyone dumb enough to try and open the panel to see what's inside or trying to steal the copper.

The last big battery breakthrough was the lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide batteries we use today in most hybrid and electric cars that was invented in 2008. It was supposed to be something like double the energy density of last lithium battery breakthrough.
I have found that "doube" turns into 5 to 20% real quick when the batteries are exposed to a little reality.

I imagined fast discharge of arc flash was fast and the danger of burns was based in that it can turn a entire cotton clothes on fire, ignet a entire shirt like a candle, for example, and not so much burn direct from electric energy.

The protective clothing is flame resistant and rated by calories per square cm for protection of near instantaneous radiant energy release.

Search youtube for "arc flash" and "arc blast". That will give you an idea what I work around every day.

Once you get above 600-800V it will jump out and get you.

I know Sputnik is probably before your time. What do you think of the hypothesis that Operation Paperclip was sabatoging the American USAF program, so it was taken from them and given to the Army before any success — then JFK bought the Hungarian space program from Tito and that became the Apollo program that went to the Moon?

54 years from the Wright brothers to orbit.

All enabled by exponential consumption of cheap fossil energy. But our fossil slaves will soon be asking for a big raise.

electricitymap.org quit showing a category for nuclear. Look at France. The instantaneous breakdown at the top has no category for nuclear. Even if the 24 hour chart below still shows 85% nuclear. New York same thing even though we are 20% nuclear.
