Because we are hooked. There is no other way around our addiction if we are to promote growth as an economic bandaid to the immense debt bubble that is temporarily forestalling the crash.

Oh, there's a way. It involves tumbrels and guillotines.

The plan to pay off debt (or at least make payments) is to increase inflation. This is a subtle way to pay off debt without "raising taxes", and it affects everyone. By inflating the currency, it becomes less valuable, which also has the effect of making debts less valuable.
My hedge against inflation was a 30 year mortgage. If inflation skyrockets, the value of my mortgage will plummet.

Consider a snake. When it is hide-bound it sheds it's skin.
If we were to shed Babylonian debt slavery, would there be a deflationary alternative up and running on the world's largest compute cluster to take up the slack?
The immense energy Bitcoin consumes comes from competition among the miners. Without the investment in proof-of-work, the blockchain could be resolved on a single device. That's why I like proof-of-stake.
Quote:
With Proof of Work, the probability of mining a block depends on the work done by the miner (e.g. CPU/GPU cycles spent checking hashes). With Proof of Stake, the resource that's compared is the amount of Bitcoin a miner holds - someone holding 1% of the Bitcoin can mine 1% of the "Proof of Stake blocks".
Some argue that methods based on Proof of Work alone might lead to a low network security in a cryptocurrency with block incentives that decline over time (like bitcoin) due to Tragedy of the Commons, and Proof of Stake is one way of changing the miner's incentives in favor of higher network security.

We May Not Have Enough Millennials To Even Meet Electric Car Demand
Sure, there is a finite supply of petroleum, but also: https://jalopnik.com/we-may-not-have...c-c-1820008337
Don't worry, some day there will be a company called Gros Eneylent that turns people into gasoline!

I understood that reference. I think young people who haven't attended college deserve the benefit of the doubt. Millennials? Speaking as a pre-Boomer, nuke 'em from orbit and move on.

The one locality in the United States where nickel has been profitably mined is Riddle, Oregon, where several square miles of nickel-bearing garnierite surface deposits are located. The mine closed in 1987.[52][53] The Eagle mine project is a new nickel mine in Michigan's upper peninsula. Construction was completed in 2013, and operations began in the third quarter of 2014.[54] In the first full year of operation, Eagle Mine produced 18,000 tonnes.[54]

Around 1987 I helped build a 60ft geodesic dome church in Riddle, OR. Just the first floor, with a 20-sided 11ft wall. I wonder if they ever got the dome up on top.

Actually, the reference was someone misreading the actual title (not enough minerales, amigo).
I was actually wondering about basements and geodesic domes earlier today. It looks like they just have boring straight walls, but the ones that I saw used Insulated Concrete Form.
Google Maps only shows three churches in Riddle and none of them are domes.

I don't know why page 60 won't load, but from the email notification:

Zoom in on the Open Bible Christian Center. It's a flat roof. While we were building the first floor, the discussion was whether with the mine closing, they'd ever be able to complete it.
There is a 60 footer we did complete at https://www.google.com/maps/@44.0692949,-123.100039,69m
The dome is free-span and requires a level ring foundation, but beyond that it's between you and your wallet. You could reproduce the Playboy Mansion Grotto.
I'll check tomorrow to see if the page loads.

It means it's cold out today. Man hasn't put enough CO2 into the atmosphere yet if we can still have winter. FAKE NEWS!
