The first line in The Departed said something like "I never wanted to be a product of my environment, I wanted my environment to be a product of me". That's me, and my environment is only as good as me, which leaves much to be desired.

As I predicted 2022 is the death of global warming.
2021 is the coldest antarctic winter on record.

That would not be a 'global' event, just regional.
The austral summer is interesting:
* W. Peninsula air temps are up more than 10-F.
* 596 of 674 glaciers are retreating
* Warm water is melting glacier grounding lines from below.
* Often above freezing
* Ice melts sooner and freezes later
* Winds blow snow off continent before it can freeze into new ice.
* dark vegetation amplifying warming
* exposed rock amplifying warming
* exposed sea water amplifying warming
* Adelie penguin eggs are drowning in ice melt and rain.
* Chicks dying of exposure
Leopard seal killing more than half newborn fur seal pups.
* Atlantic Silverfish, which dominated the marine food supply has collapsed.
* Sea ice, which hosts algae, which feed krill is under assault.
* The ice shelf which 'corked' the Thwaites Glacier is unstable, and we may see 5-feet of sea level rise from this single system within 5-years

Curious to see that foot-a-year sea rise hypothesis. How is the news missing the opportunity to run that "sky is falling" headline? Usually news will make stuff up to keep us clicking, but they'd prefer to use something others made up if they can.

I expect that during warming from an ice age, most glaciers would be in retreat. That's what exiting an ice age entails.

* The Cryosphere folks define the end of an ice age as a specific sea level.
* Whatever the state of ice is at that point is associated with an interglacial.
* When we entered the Holocene, the state of the ice remained essentially static for 10,000-years, until recently. Glaciers were held where they were.
* The oceans hold 90% of tropospheric heat of the past 150-years, in shallow waters.
* The heat is melting ice, has hit amplification feedback loops, and is accelerating non-linearly.
* We keep adding greenhouse gases.
* Earth will continue to warm.
* Both poles are warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet.
* 100-feet of sea level rise is on the way.

They have global reach.
The poles are akin to big reflectors, bouncing solar radiation back into space, cooling the entire planet.
Melt the ice, lose the reflector, warm the whole planet.
The marine food chain is collapsing.
Take away the ice, you take away the ice algae.
Take away the ice algae and you take away the krill.
Take away the krill and you take away the fish, marine mammals, and seabirds.
Take away the fish, mammals and birds, and you take away the humans.
Global weather patterns will shift with the Jet Stream, which is a slave to the polar vortices, which are a slave to polar temps.
Airport closures.
Bombogenesis cyclones.
Rapid-intensification hurricanes.
Atmospheric rivers.
Drought.
Highway buckling.
Mesocyclone fuel.
Tornado fuel.
Heat waves.
Floods.
Dam breaks.
Road closures
Road washouts
Wildfires.
Crop failures.
Soaring food prices
Tropical disease.
Civil war.
Refugees.
