S-O

Perhaps Oil pan 4 has access to it. I don't have email. Slow mail is expensive.

nova, dwarf nova...................

I'm in the middle of a dated, however very comprehensive journal paper on the above.
So far, there are no such things as nova 'stars', or 'dwarf nova stars', only variable binary systems, which contain a main-sequence star like our Sun, orbiting a white dwarf star, donating mass, via an accretion disc of matter.
And it is a 'hot spot' on the accretion disk itself, between the two stars, where the 'nova' luminosity actually comes from, not either of the stars themselves.
When 'nova' and 'mini-nova' were mentioned awhile back, I couldn't wrap my head around the concept. This paper is connecting the dots which led to my intuitive reaction.

outdated

The first thing I said.
And now you'll educate us all on what's transpired that supersedes the data?

Sci Tech Daily.........space weather catastrophe on Earth

https://scitechdaily.com/stellar-exp...ion-years-ago/November 17, 2021, HEADLINE:
'Stellar Explosion Blamed for Mass Extinction on Earth...........360-million years ago'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) After reading the source material one discovers that, this is an 'hypothesis.'
2) A contributing author, Adrienne Ertel, graduate student, University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana, states that their hypothesized killer star supernova is actually outside the ' kill distance' from Earth, in which any damage would have ( could have ) occurred.
3) In order to 'prove' their hypothesis, they'd need radio-isotopic 244Pu, 146 Sm evidence from the appropriate-aged terrestrial stratum.
4) No search for the properly-aged stratum has been conducted.
5) No collection of the stratum has been accomplished.
6) No laboratory analysis of samples has been conducted.
5) No evidence exists, one way or another, to confirm or disprove the hypothesis.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless the reader made the effort to examine the 'evidence,' the headline might pass as 'fact.'
Caveat Emptor
